I think the Sox tried to do what the Bears did with Urlacher but Paul shocked them by accepting.

Paul Konerko: I accept.

Rick Hahn:

Anyway, Konerko is 22 Home runs shy of passing Frank for the Sox record. About 100 RBIs short of passing Frank for that team record.

I think he can get the 22 if Dunn gets hurt or traded. He did hit 12 last year and missed a lot of time. He won't get the RBI record.

Maybe there's a performance clause where if he passes Thomas for the club record, Jerry Reinsdorf heroically gives him the ball back.

While his numbers don't make him a HOFer. I would argue that he was one of the best "Non PED" hitters over the last 15 years.

Maybe the best since all the good hitters were PED guys.

Now 500 home runs will once again be a tough thing to accomplish. Paul almost has 450. Pretty damn good for not being on ROIDS.

Yeah, Frank and Paulie are the only clean power hitters of the last 20 years.

Don't forget Griffey Jr was clean because he spent a year on the South Side

Yeah. I think Frank, Griffey and Paul were the only clean power hitters over the last 20 years. Not saying it cuz I'm a Sox fan. As I do think Thome and Quentin were ROIDERS.

Name me another guy over the last 25 years with 400 or more homers that you think is clean. Can't do it. Hell, name me somebody with 300 or more homers over the last 25 years that you think is clean. You might be able to come up with somebody for that. But maybe not.

Albert Belle stay instilled a Sox tradition of playing the clean way.

That time the 2003 White Sox conspired to test positive meant none of them could actually test positive.

I think Thome is one of the biggest Frauds. Because everybody thinks he's a nice guy nobody will talk about his ROID use. Look at a picture of him as a rookie. Then look at the weird looking monster he became.

Konerko used.

Frank didn't though.

THEY ARENT ALLOWED TO USE IT ON PLAYERS!

But we would like to announce the building of the new Konerko Wishing fountain where you can throw coins in and wish for Pauly to hit .300.

Got to admit, surprised he came back, especially for $2.5M

The deal is also favorable to the Sox.....They pay him 1.5M next season and 1M in 2021. In 2021, Paul's first kid turns 16 - that will be a hell of a 16th birthday present for him.

Paul must not trust himself to save money.

Or knows that when he gets it then, he'll have their college paid off.

What are you talking about?

Baseballrefernce.com shows that Konerko has made 127 million in his career. He had the kid's college paid for already. Paul also has his grandchildren's tuition and their grandchildren's college paid for.

This 2.5 million is pocket change for him.

You don't think a white guy can blow 127 million dollars?

I saw the splits posted at WSI that showed Konerko should be a very good platoon with Dunn against LH. I guess he will get his AB against LH and giving Abreau occasional rest. That should mean no playing time for Dunn at first this year.

I imagine they are trying to find ANYONE who will take Dunn.

Thats called a $700K deal in 2014, this is how Jerry loves deals.

Yes. They can. Not Konerko, though. He's one of the good/smart whites.

Yeah. But how many lefties are their in MLB. Maybe you see one every 4 games. Konerko is regressing but he'll be even worse if he can only play once every 4 games. Dunn will have to get hurt or our Cuban 1st basemen will have to suck for him to get into a groove. I thought his bat speed was there at the end of the year. I think he can be a 25 HR, .280, .350 OBP guy if he played every day.

Or, if they can find a sucker, they trade Dunn. I think that's what they want to do.

If the Cubs can move Soriano then anything is possible but the Sox will have to eat Adam Dunn at Old Country Buffet levels of salary to move him

Where do you think Konerko will stand? And how can you not think Jerry is keeping him around to be his next manager in waiting.

No way Konerko would want to manage right after he's done playing. Maybe after all of his kids are grown. But Jerry will be dead by then. I think Konerko has at least one kid under 10.

Then again, maybe not, Jerry might live into his late 90s.

Konerko has 3 kids under 10. He will want to go back to the west coast when he's done.

As for Dunn, I see him being moveable at the deadline and not a second sooner. No one will want him for a full season - just down the stretch for one more power bat.
