-This win means nothing.

- Bears still suck.

-Trestman is an offensive genius and can make anyone a great QB.

Ill listen on my break for about 20 minutes.

Taking the anti-meatball stance in every conceivable situation leads to some truly unfortunate "hot takes".

This is really an "of course...but maybe" situation. As in, of course Jay Cutler is your starting quarterback (if he's healthy)...but maybe you should see how far you can ride with the guy that just tossed four touchdowns and ran for another.

can someone tell me if b&b are on #TeamCutler or #TeamMcCown in regards to the inevitable quarterback controversy that's gonna pain our asses for the rest of the season?

cuz man.... as i outlined in my two long rant posts in nas' weekly bears game thread (sry guys, but i have shit to say sometimes. in advance, go fuck yourself RFDC... go raise your kids or something) mccown is making a killing having plenty of time to throw to two bigtime #1 wide receivers (there. i said it.... alshon jeffery is showing that he has what it takes to be "the guy" and now you wonder who they're gonna put haden on next week, cuz if you tee-off on marshall alshon is capable of catching 12/164 with 2TD. game on) and a solid TE supplanted by a solid ~top-6ish RB and overall an offense that's firing on all cylinders right now.....

the tantalizing prospect is that if trestman is able to get this kind of performance out of josh mccown, just imagine what he could do with a fully-rolling jay cutler. i still believe that we haven't seen the best football of jay cutler's career and i believe it's quite possibly/probably going to come from having some time with marc trestman.... and if you dont see these games out there with JOSH FUCKING MCCLOWN out there chucking it to wide open marshall and alshon and think "wow.... just imagine what jay could do if he was playing that well" then you're a fucking jamoche from chicago who doesn't deserve to have a franchise QB cuz love him or hate him you've got a kid right around his physical prime who has all the fucking tools you could want in a quarterback (ok you could want a quarterback who runs a 4.3 but still) and now that you've got two legit championship-level WRs in marshall and alshon.... and forte's gotta be nearing the end of his window cuz who knows when he takes a knock and loses a step or two and that's that.... man.... you only have so many years to get into the tournament and when you get in the tournament you always have a chance....

so i want that chance to be maximized cuz the defense aint gonna step up and start hunkering down on better offenses in the playoffs..... and when opposing defenses start getting hands on mccown (he was only sacked once tonight) he had no mobility to escape, HE HAS NO ABILITY TO CONSISTANTLY THROW THE BALL ON THE RUN.... FFS you need a goddamn physical thoroughbred out there with this offense and thus YOU NEED JAY CUTLER

arghhhh sorry i'm unloading paragraph after paragraph of the rantage here but man i'm fired up, and hearing these fucking idiot callers all "WHAT DOES THIS MCCLOWN GUY HAVE TO DO GUYS?!?! DON'T WASTE THAT $$$ ON CUTLER CUZ YOU DONT NEED A TOP QUARTERBACK IN THIS OFFENSE" --- man fuck you. seriously FUCK YOU. i've spent my whole life not having a fucking franchise quarterback on my football team and now we've got one.... and yeah he's been hurt over the years (no doubt compounded via the veritable games of smear-the-queer that were played at his expense) and he's inconsistent* but WHATEVER MAN, seriously.... don't run this guy out of town cuz some backup QB came in and had like 5 good games against bums alongside 2 bad games ALSO AGAINST BUMS and now you wanna throw the baby out with the bathwater and run cutler out of town because WE'RE THE CHICAGO BEARS AND IN UNDER ONE SEASON WITH AN OFFENSIVE COACH NOW WE'VE DECIDED THAT WE DONT NEED A QUARTERBACK!

shit bring back kyle orton man.... or maybe we should scout all of the HS coaches of america and see who can still throw a ball around because making a run at out-of-football-QBs-coaching-HS will be the new draft-basketball-players-at-TE trend that antonio gates started. yeah that's right.

and hey, favre is coaching HS football, right? damn right. let's have cutler walk and bring in favre next year cuz he can back up mcclown and lead us to a super bowl.

whatever.... i'm done ranting at you lot tonight but fuck it fuck you fuckall, man, i hope to god b&b have my back on this cuz the only chance the bears have in the tournament, should they even make it (cuz i think detroit could win out and then none of this matters unless the bears win out and go 10-6 and get a WC) YOU NEED THE PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES OF JAY CUTLER TO WIN AGAINST THE ELITE TEAMS.

and if you dont see that mcclown is a product of this offense and not the other way around.... well then you are a chicago bears fan who has no clue about what quality quaterbacking is all about and you don't deserve to have a QB that's better than orton/grossman/slash-stewart/griese/etc

Damn sini you're riding Jay's cock better than Kristin ever could dream of. It's too bad for him that his backup is outperforming him . All of this we need jays big arm to win is proving to be horseshit. Funny, if Cutler were shredding these defenses like McCowan is doing all we would be hearing from the Cutler apologists is see look at how awesome he is . Cutler isn't a great qb, never has been, never will be and the Bears are better off without him. Deal with it .

Except Cutler is too fucking obstinate and uncoachable to make that work. If Trestman likes his job, he won't push for Cutler.

And what is a "fully rolling cutler," anyways?

Is this to say that he didn't play healthy under Trestman or something?

There is absolutely no reason to believe Jay Cutler hasnt peaked yet. This is year 8. He's had Brandon fucking Marshall for 4 of those years and he's never been better than slightly above average.

And I dont know why you think Cutler is more mobile, he is certainly not.

The tools you talk about are not even coveted in the NFL anymore. He's got a rocket arm and can make an occassional great throw from his back foot. Who gives a shit? It's all about accuracy.

McCown is just proving how pedestrian Cutler is. And even with all these weapons (earlier in the year) he wasnt lighting the world on fire.

Jay will always throw that one (or 2) horrible picks at the worst time when he's trying to do to much.

Now the interesting thing is they won't be able to afford both. One or the other. AND you have to let McCowan hit free agency b/c he's a minimum $ veteran guy. Can't sign him until FA begins.

Do you really think he believes half of what he writes, or is he just that obsessed with kissing Danny's ass? I'm thinking the latter.

McCowen has played pretty well in two of the nastiest weather situations you will ever experience in the NFL. He has outplayed Pro Bowl QBs in those wins. He played fairly well in one of the loudest stadiums in the league. He has made every throw you need him to make. There really is nothing indicating that this is an aberration. I think he has just found a good fit. So he's Alex Smith. Alex Smith was about to be out of this league before he ran across two of the best QB coaches in the NFL.

By bad coaches. He was good for Denver, some will argue he's the same. Don't know what he could have been or could have not been.

He wasn't that good in Denver. That's why they got rid of him.

Any "objective" observer who thinks the Bears should bring back Cutler is a moron. If you erased the names and watched the performances, it is an All-Pro vs an average NFL QB. Nothing is given in the NFL from year to year. You don't even think about next year and evaluating Cutler when making this decision. The Bears are one game out of making the playoffs and, since I am a Bears fan, that's what I want. I'm sick of all these faux GM's like Dan Bernstein always planning for the next chapter that inevitably won't go as planned anyway. You play to win NOW. The way to do that is to continue playing Josh McCown, who is playing as well as any QB in the NFL.

Even though Jay Cutler is the probably future QB of the team for next season, it's getting harder and harder to justify removing McCown while he's playing so well, especially if Cutler's injury is not 100%.

This off-season should be interesting for McCown. I don't know who suggested to Boers and Bernstein that McCown is going to get some $25 million contract as I heard them say a few times (my guess is that one texter became representative of all fans), but he's clearly going to get a significant raise over his current $850K and some team may even consider letting him compete for a job if a younger QB isn't ready (or isn't on the team yet). I see no reason why he won't get at least a 1 year deal at $3-$4 million per.

McGowen is a back-up for a reason and only idiots would push for him over Cutler.

This. Is. A. Big. Boy. Offense. Now.

If I were Mc Cowen I would parlay this streak into a cushy backup role behind a young established QB and sit pretty for the next five years. There is no way in the world I'd be looking to start as a stop gap for some dog shit team resulting in me getting exposed and being back coaching high school in a year.

Should the Bears consider putting McCown in at receiver?

So Larry thinks that the 3rd ranked passer in the league is baseline "replacement level"?.

Enough with this "replacement level" crap. It means nothing. It doesn't exist. McCown is McCown. Not a generic replacement robot.
