Funny what a great manager Torre was once he got some of the best talent in the last 25 years and the GOAT closer.

I'm pretty sure Mrs. Cox disagrees with Mr. Feinstein.

During tranny . Of course he had to bring up a saber term to suck up to Lil Danny cuz all the cool kids who really know how to judge a player use that term. It was in the context Greg mentioned of how they need to proceed next year if they draft a rookie qb. Needs to function at at least replacement level in the offense .

They use it to label players rather than as the theoretical construct it actually is.

So where's our WSCR baseball expert to report on the big Sox trade?

Maybe I'll tune in to WMVP and see what Jesse Rogers is reporting from Orlando.

Maybe he'll counter ZZ's news that liquid freezes when it's really cold outside with a report saying that, under current conditions, liquid left outside in FL will not freeze.

OK. now we have confirmation from Bruce Levine that the trade did, indeed, take place.

Dumb. Replacement level is ridiculous to try to measure in terms of a quarterback. There are too many variables outside of their control. We only have one standard to measure Josh McCown against, and that is Jay Cutler. They have the same coach and personnel, and McCown had clearly outperformed him.

Yeah, but McCown had one drive where he had multiple hypothetical interceptions.

AND Cutler was JUST about to bust out into Greatness when he got hurt.

Both times.

Yeah, I heard that argument, too... as opposed to the hypothetical and non-hypothetical interceptions thrown by Cutler.

Another McCown criticism I find interesting is the he can't throw the deep ball. So shouldnt defenses be bunched up in short zones because they can keep the safeties shallower therefore making it harder for McCown to complete anything short to intermediate because theres more defenders there? Yet here he is making throw after throw completing better than 66% despite not being able to throw anything over the top. I know , just wait till he faces those big boy defenses that Cutler routinely shredded when he was in there

You guys are forgetting about the hypothetical completions Cutler would have thrown. Just watching the Vikings game he counted a bunch of throws that Cutler would have completed. He can tell by watching on TV.

So Bernsie thinks Bears management would never influence what their doctors say/do.

Not listening so I'm not sure of the context but sounds like he's trolling 85 bears fans again. Ill be the first to admit I thought he'd be better than he was especially based on his college careerand he was hurt an awful lot but when healthy he was an above average nfl qb. To say he wasn't any good is wrong.

McCown has the highest QBR in the NFL. He's started 5 games, played the 2nd half in Washington and the last quarter against Detroit. That's enough of a sample size to say he's good". Not great. But certainly better than "Replacement Level".

I think that one of the bottom feeders might sign him as a starter. For like 8 million for 2 years. Something like that.

Let me guess. He's comparing his mid-80s numbers to the douchebags who operate 21st century passing offenses. He must be right. Josh McCown is better than Johnny Unitas too.

somebody who's smart and has a lot of time can pull convincing numbers to show McMahon was a good QB when healthy.

I just don't have that time.
