The Sign Language Interpreter At Mandela’s Memorial Was A Fake
The Deaf Federation of South Africa has confirmed that the sign language interpreter wasn’t actually interpreting anything.

Bruno Druchen, national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa, raised suspicions yesterday during the memorial.

Here’s the “interpreter” doing some “interpreting.”






The Associated Press reports that Druchen has said the interpreter was just “moving his hands around but there was no meaning in what he used his hands for.”


South African parliament member Wilma Newhoudt has also confirmed the man didn’t actually communicate anything with his hand and arm movements.
South Africa’s government is reportedly preparing a statement about the interpreter.
