Isn't Trestman's offense basically what Mike Leach runs:

Quote:
"There's two ways to make it more complex for the defense," Leach told journalist Michael Lewis, writing for The New York Times Magazine. "One is to have a whole bunch of different plays, but that's no good because then the offense experiences as much complexity as the defense. Another is a small number of plays run out of lots of different formations. That way, you don't have to teach a guy a new thing to do. You just have to teach him new places to stand."

Bernstein thinks this is simply a case of people not liking Jay Cutler. I disagree. It's McCown outperforming Cutler and wanting to know if he can continue it even if only for one year.

Would they be putting in Cutler over Nick Foles?

Dan likes to talk about how the locker room is their office, where they go to work, but has a dismissive attitude toward the fact that Cutler doesn't ingratiate himself with teammates and can't seem to build up any social capital. In actual offices, you can benefit from not being a prick to everyone when your work comes short of speaking for itself. Just a thought.

No, they would keep him on the bench and let him walk after the season and keep Foles long term. They cant do that with McCown because he is 34.

This is all on Emery and his stupid ass decision to let everyone go this season with no contract extensions. If Cutler was signed long term, you could just keep him on the bench and let him get totally healthy and ride the wave until McCown inevitably shits the bed. Now Cutler is in a no win situation. If he is good, well he should be. McCown was good with this offense too... If he throws one pick the fans are going to want to murder him.

Never mind the fact that McCown had his best performances against the Redskins and Cowboys defenses. Dont factor in that McCown lost starts against the Vikings and Rams.

Right. I'm not one of those guys who always loves the backup, and I'm not a Cutler hater either. But the fact is, McCown is the top-rated QB in the league since Cutler went down. It's hardly crazy to want to see him continue.

Contrary to what Jay just said, Cleveland is not - at all - a great defense .... ranked 23rd I believe.

How well was Cutler playing against that porous Redskin defense before he got hurt? After all it was one of McCowns best performances so they must be pretty shitty. Anyone could move the ball on them.

Boilermaker Rick listens so you don't have to.

Every question in the press conference.
Josh McCown is awesome, or can you be awesome, or how awesome was he, or does the fact that he was awesome make you feel the need to be awesome?

I almost felt bad for Cutler. Almost.

I'm not trying to defend Cutler or his past performances. He started that game slow and bad, the team was only down by a TD when he was injured. Maybe they get blown out if he stays in the game, who knows...

McCown has played well, it's hard to bench a guy playing that well. As a fan I want them to try to win right now. I also want them to be good in the future. Again, this is on Emery and letting the entire team play this year without a contract. If Cutler is signed long term, there is much less pressure on him to come back and play right away.

I'm a Bears fan. Its not about whether I "like" a QB, or if he's cute, or a man's man, or wears pink, or is surly to the media and talk radio hosts. Its not about color, or college, or Christianity, its about two things: "W" and points. Does he get wins? Does he get more points than he gives up?

I don't hate Jay Cutler but what has Cutler done that I should love him? How many playoff games won? How many playoff appearances? How many games has he shown up and been lights out, and how many has he shit the bed?

All that's asked of the backup is that when called upon, don't fuck up. Last year, was anybody itching to see Jason Campbell? He came in and stunk, nobody was sorry for him. This year, McCown comes and he hasn't stunk. He's actually done well, quite well. He gets the "W" and he gets points, and he doesn't throw the ball to the other team too often.

The only place where Cutler has to be remotely liked is in the locker room, and from this fan's perspective being respected is what is far more important. I don't think anyone questions Cutler's physical abilities, he is impressive in that regard. The best ever in a Bears uniform? Maybe, but until he gets a playoff win it doesn't matter. Win and you're king, anything else and it just becomes "don't care."

He did get a playoff win. They got to the NFC Championship.

First of all, anytime you want to leave your shitty little hovel and come out to an event in public so I can tell you to 'fuck off' to your miserable face, put your big boy pants on and do so, you mealy-mouthed piece of shit.

Second, this is what I was looking at ...

I just checked his stats from those 2 games. McCown far from "lost" those starts. Pin those on Captain Braniac and that Tracy Lawrence-led defense.

He didnt lose them on his own but sure as hell didnt lead the charge to win them either.

He's 3-2 with a win in Green Bay. We don't need to start looking at records here.

What a shit show!

Great formula guys: take calls on a subject you don't want to talk about, then dissect every word of every caller and tell them they're wrong regardless of whether their thoughts are just opinion. Rinse and repeat.

How about if you don't like taking calls and talking about this subject, then stop taking calls and talking about this subject.

I think there's a little confusion about when these guys say, "Chicago always loves the backup quarterback." It's usually when the starter is a bum and you wonder if the other guy could do better. This is a totally different situation. The starter is supposedly the best to ever wear a Bear uniform and the backup is outperforming him and has about an equal body of work this season.

So Gruden misspoke and said Lake Erie instead of Michigan and that gets a 2 minute rambling WYC? What the fuck is this segment about anymore!? Oh and one guy stole his entire crap from a Deadspin article, how original. PTFB.
