dude bellwood did that years ago. hell, they even installed an acoustic audio system that was able to detect the sounds of gunshots and then immediately program the CCTV network to start focusing all of their cameras in the direction of said gunshots and start looking for the perpetrators. old news.

of course, there's always the can of worms that comes with the internet switching from corporate interests to civic interests what with censorship and monitoring your feeds.... i.e. if you pirate some shit and the cease and desist letters are sent your ISP which happens to be your municipality, do they send the police over to arrest you for piracy? slippery slope IMO.

they already tried this with private ip's. the music industry set the precedent- they claimed an IP address = a person

a few judges finally got their minds right and ruled that IP addresses = IP addresses and its not a reliable way to gather evidence against someone.
