I actually never watched the whole thing. I'm hoping Ted Turner colorizes it first, than I'll watch.

There used to be a colorized version.

You'll be surprised to learn it looked weird. 1991 technology wasn't what they told us it would be in 1974.

Yeah,I remember Turner doing that with computers. I remember watching "Knute Rockne" with Ronald Reagan in color. I kind of liked it.

 it's the entire 3rd act of the movie.

Well, then, I'd better go rewatch it for the 30th time and find all the mentions of Christ and Christmas (other than the last two minutes). Over/under: 2 and the hook.

One of my all-time top-20 movies. Just not a Christmas movie.

Fucking stupid sound of music live bumped it. TV guide says its suppose to be on Friday the 20th now instead of the 14th. I think it is the best movie ever.

That would be White Christmas.

She hooked up with Danny Kaye.

Let's see, the MOVIE goes something like this (in a nutshell):

The voices of two angels talk are talking. (yes, the angels have a bit of religious connotation; nothing about Christmas).
Clarence is a rookie who needs to get his wings.
Oh, here's a guy Clarence can help: George Bailey.
He's a great guy, destined for greatness.
He has his own plan.
Due to circumstances beyond his control, his life progresses in a different, somewhat less-desirable way.
He's still a great guy.
Marries childhood sweetheart.
Runs the family business, best he can (hey, the economy sucks, you know!).
Great family man.
Everyone in town loves him, 'cept for the evil, greedy old businessman (Bill Wirtz), who knows George is a threat to his kingdom.
During tough stretch, townspeople panic and want their money!
George uses honeymoon money to tide people over; they rejoice.
Later, dumbass uncle loses ton of money that he was supposed to deposit.
George is in big trouble.
After all of the above events, George is stressed out, makes a half-assed suicide attempt.

(SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Clarence the angel, however, shows up with his own agenda and saves George.

After Clarence shows George how much he is loved, and how events would have progressed without his presence, George realizes how lucky he is, and wants to live.

George's friends rally around him when he needs them the most. Merry Christmas, everybody!!!

Seriously, I'm not arguing with the SPIRIT or MORAL of the MOVIE. It is one of the greats, but while you may want to connect the dots as far as a religious or moral theme goes, or even equate George to Christ in a roundabout way (which is fine), the central theme is not about Christmas, celebrating Christmas, travelling somewhere to gather to celebrate Christmas, or even really mentioning Christmas. The only real connections to Christmas the movie has are 1) the story occurs at that time of the year, and 2) the last few minutes.

IT IS NOT A CHRISTMAS MOVIE (IMO).

Frankly, Santa Claus Conquers The Martians is more of a Christmas movie than IAWL.

Fuck George Bailey. He's the typical middle class guy. He really aspires to be Potter. He can't hide that when shit breaks bad. Yelling at poor little Zuzu like he's Tony Soprano and wallowing in his own self-pity. Sure he gets happy when the town hands him a bunch of money he didn't work for. His Savings & Loan was nothing but a ponzi scheme. He was using other people's money to buy the fucking lasso he was using to grab the moon. Fuck George Bailey!

Since you've linked to youtube you might want to watch the 1st few frames of the original credits for IAWL. Odd the producers framed the opening credits in Christmas card-type settings.

The original advertising poster also includes what appears to be red ribbon, bows and holly. Maybe those symbols meant something else back then.

Oh, it's definitely a Christmas movie. Its protagonist just happens to be a guy who was in breach of his fiduciary duty.

If they were to remake "It's a Wonderful Life" they would change him from a local banker to a CEO who isn't paying minimum wage to all employees and needs to be jailed for not "maximizing shareholder value".

I do respect him for allowing Uncle Billy to drink at work.
