theyre on welfare. not a luxurious life, but theyre not constantly worried about paying the medical bills

They arent though. I know these families. The husbands have decent like 60-80K a year jobs and the wives work part time.

I used to root for a good zombie apocalypse because I thought I could make it thru but there is no way my family could survive now. My wife would just bitch about everything and my kids would cry when we needed to stay quiet. I would just open my front door and get it over with quickly.

no they TELL you how much better their lives are. "you have no idea until you have kids" "youll get it someday" "you need kids"

god im so fuckin tired of hearing that. there are so many extra kids in this world, i think its selfish to make your own on purpose.

oh.. well theyre probably poorer then most on welfare then. at least on welfare when you get your taxes back you can literally buy a brand new car in cash.

I would kill for $1000-$1200/month in daycare costs. That's reasonable for this area.

Kids get progressively "cheaper" for each one you have (to a certain point). The start-up/overhead costs drop significantly after the 1st one (you've already got all of the "supplies" and furniture), and they don't stay in diapers/on formula forever. Once they are potty trained and eat regular food, it's basically just daycare costs. And they only stay in daycare for a limited number of years.

It's the first kid that slaps you in the face cost-wise.

Then there is college savings............ :?

You dont. I dont know how we have lasted 4 months and that is only with 3.

no, no, you don't. People are more broke today than ever, and a lot of it has to do with having had kids.

Compared to other generations? That logic seems flawed.

After having one child I don't know how people do it a second time.

I really think I'm one and done with regards to having children.

It gets easier the second time, but two is enough for me.

I lived like a "rock star" in my 20's & 30's....now in my 40's and have 2 kids. I understand both sides of the lifestyle & certainly would never say one is better than the other. For me...having kids was something I ultimately wanted and was eventually blessed with. I wouldn't change a thing. Not to mention having kids later in life...I was much more prepared financially and mentally.

I will say, when i was single w/ no kids....I used to bite my tongue and think F-U to those who wanted to project their "happiness" and kids "BS" on me. It is what it is...and people should do what they want and not project their wants and their ideas of needs & happiness on to others. I still have a few buddy's who are in their 40's with no desire for kids and I could not care less. It does give me that "ughh" feeling from time to time as they freely go here & there...but then my kids say "daddy will you play trains with me".....or something like that...and I wouldn't want anything else. Kids are fleeting...they grow up fast...so I'm absorbing everything I can...while I can.

If you don't want em...don't have them please. It is a lifetime commitment.
