if you shopped at target and didn't use cash, youre fucked.

newegg was also hit, but its not making the news yet. some people getting charged thousands without authorization.

dont use PIN codes anymore. credit everything and sign your name. get a prepaid debit card and only keep enough on it to make purchases when you dont have cash.

The way to prevent this in the future is for people to have a personal ID number that changes weekly.

Here is how it works:

1. you charge something

2. add your personal ID

With it changing weekly,it renders any high tech theft useless. it's more cumbersome, but it might work.

how will people remember a new password every week? they use 123456 as it is...

the only way we fix this is biometric authentication. japan is already doing this with palm prints, and it works.

definitely. the problem is if you want to solidify identity security, youre also giving the government absolute power to track anyone with perfect efficiency.

maybe.. but no. if bitcoin ever becomes mainstream, you can bet visa and mastercard, backed by the federal reserve, will squash it.

that said, bitcoin just lost over 50% of its value almost overnight. its a great time to buy. im sure it will go back up to where it was, so if you have some money to invest it might be a good time to do it. just make sure you sell it in the summer when it peaks again.
