He has rushed for over 100 yards in 3 straight games too. He's averaging 4.7 ypc for the season and would be at 4.9 if he didn't stink against the Lions. He has a great chance to finish the season with 2000 yards from scrimmage. Most underrated back in the NFL.

If Briggs isn't back, look for the Eagles to run the read option and/or wildcat. Both times Cleveland did it, the Bears D looked completely lost.

Given the date of the Bears last Super Bowl victory, we can assume it has never worked.

Nas I don't think anyone is dissing Forte here. I like him as well, though I do think he's a solid notch or two below a guy like Charles.

Cowboys lose and Eagles clinch with a W. If Packers and Lions lose, do the Bears clinch the division
with a win?

I like to look at the full body of work. Some backs may do certain things at a higher level than Forte but he's the best all around RB in the NFL. He does it all at a high level despite the heavy load he has to carry and the beating he takes.

That would eliminate the Lions, I think, but not the Packers.

A Lions loss means eight total losses for the year, but a Bears win means the most they could lose this season is seven games.

Yup! Packers couldn't finish ahead of the Bears because of their tie and tie breakers.

Bears and Eagles in the same spot? Cowboys win and the Bears game doesn't matter
for the Eagles. Lions lose, Packers win, Bears could lose to the Eagles and make the playoffs
still by beating GB week 17?

The plan should be to make Foles beat you. McCoy has opened up the passing game. If you stop him IMO Foles won't beat you. Too much pressure on the kid. He will make mistakes and the Bears defense will make him pay. I'm predicting 2 interceptions by Foles and at least a 3 touchdown and turnover free night from Cutler. Forte will also come out and want to prove to everyone that he is the best all around back in the NFL.

C'mon man. Are you drunk?

In 11 games Foles has only thrown 2 picks.

They just carved up a top 5 pass defense without Cutler at his best so you can imagine what may happen to the 31st and Cutler without the rust. The Eagles can't stop anyone and Foles hasn't exactly been lighting it up in the air. Jennings will take Jackson out of the game and a couple of solid hits on McCoy from the improved Bears defense will make him a non factor.

The NFL's leading rusher will quit b/c a couple solid hits? Seriously?

Nas wrote:
Especially if Briggs returns. The Bears were barely giving up 100 yards on the ground when he was healthy. The addition of Ratliff has made a difference too. I think the Bears will win big.

Briggs is coming back from a nearly two month layoff. He's going to be OK. But players don't just jump right back into Pro Bowl form.

I'm not concerned about what Foles has done in the past. A lot changes with the pressure of the playoffs.

I don't think McCoy will quit but I don't believe he'll be near 160 total yards.

It's not that I expect Briggs to be at a pro bowl level but I expect his presence to make a huge difference. Urlacher had 1 leg last year but when he was on the field the Bears were a better defense. Briggs will make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be and provide some on field leadership for the cubs.

I believe the bears can outscore philly if Cutler can limit the turnovers to one or less.

McCoy will probably have 200 yards

briggs didn't look good before the injury , he looked slow n old and was tackling very poorly . Briggs return doesn't mean much IMO ...i think he's about done.

forte is playing great..having a career year, but he is no shady mccoy .

All this talk about the offense is fine, but Philly has the best RB in the NFC, and one of the hottest QBs as well. Foles has revived DeSean Jackson's career, and the only back better than McCoy this year is Jamal Charles. Both Foles and McCoy excel where the Bears are at their weakest: run defense, and long pass play coverage (safeties). If all systems are go for Philly, then it will be difficult for Cutler to keep pace. You can only force it to Marshall so many times in a 45-38-type game.

I don't know about that Nas. Forte seems more a compiler to me. At the end of the game his stats will look pretty good but you can't trust him on short yardage to get tough yards . He can't break tackles and has shown he can't get tough yards when you need them. First contact seems to bring him down . Hard to say he's the best with that glaring deficiency in his game

There is no way he can be in the top 5 of the league every year in all purpose yards if those things are true. We know he hasn't benefited from great blocking or QB play but somehow his ypc is always high. As I said he is underrated.

Yeah but he blows when it's 3 or 4 th down and you need 1 or 2 yards. Do you trust him to get those yards?? That's a huge hole in his game . He does everything else well no doubt.

I trust him to get those yards more than any back on the team. Problem is most of the time he doesn't have a chance because of awful run blocking. That's something this team still doesn't do well.

Sure the blocking is part of it but he can't break tackles . Sometimes you need your back to bail the blocking out and he doesn't do that. I'd wager his YAC is among the lowest in the league . That's what prevents him from being among the top backs in the league IMO

I think Forte is probably in the top 5-10 of ALL AROUND backs.

As a pure runner, I don't think he's even in the top 15. Once he gets in the open field, he's pretty good. But from the line of scrimmage, he's not very explosive and he doesn't pick up his feet. And he's never been super quick - that's just not how he's built.

I'm not saying I don't like him - blocking and pass catching are extremely important, and he's a competent runner. I just think there are many backs in the league who are better pure runners.

He's a top 5 RB. What 4 to 9 running backs are better all around than him?

What about his rushing stats this year with a below average run blocking offensive line and the rest of his time here with HORRIBLE offensive lines says he is just "competent" as a runner?
