That's no match for the hypothetical talents of Jay Cutler, who scored 11 points today but 34 hypothetical points with dozens of hypothetical precision bullets to smothered receivers for long gains.

HE CAN MAKE EVERY THROW!

He's not.

[meatball mode]Actually, he scored 0 hypothetical points as the field goal was set up by a bad spot by the officials, and the lone TD was in garbage time, down by 30. Against a defense we were told all week was one of the worst in the NFL.[/meatball mode]

Cutler is the Alonzo Spellman of QBs. Body (arm) like a world beater, brain like an egg beater.

I should stop with the hypothetical thing. Haven't used it till tonight. I'm just frustrated, even though as others have pointed out the Bears can still win and be in next week.

I guess at the beginning.

First of fucking all, Podlesh should be cut tonight. To-fucking-night. I'm sick of that buster. Fuck him in his ear. I'm sick of his bullshit shank punts.

Second, cut Hester. I've had it with his shit. He should never have been on the team.

Third, this defense is literally the worst run defense in the history of the NFL. That's not an exaggeration. They truly are the worst ever. They're amazingly pathetic.

Fourth, Cutler can make every throw? Oh sure, he can. He just rarely does. Here's yet another big game, a game where everyone knew we needed a big game from the offense, and once again, here we see another sad performance.

Fifth, we got outcoached badly. We weren't ready for anything on either side of the ball. They totally punked us at all times, in all three phases.

Last: here it comes again. We've managed to set it up again for the Packers to knock us out of the playoffs in embarrassing fashion. They'll probably win the Superbowl.

Fuck this team.

And if we re-sign Cutler to a long-term deal? Hooboy. Fuck this team.

One last thing: how pathetic is it that they stick with McClellan? Wow. You talk about not living up to your failings. That by itself is nearly fire-worthy for Emery.

Kids...calm down. It's one fucking game. The Bears are rebuilding and are remaining competitive while doing so. You can't judge a team based on one game, but rather the entire season. Every team gets blown out occasionally. The new Bears regime is off to a great start in year one and will continue to improve as the players get comfortable with Tresty system. I do hope they launch Mel Tucker though.

This Eagles team is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I hope they beat Dallas, make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.

Okay, so it's okay for the Bears to go 500 in the first year of a new coach's system, but as for the other team with a new coach and new system - the Eagles, you expect that they win the Super Bowl? Why not expect that out of the Bears then?

The Bears have not shown any competence in recent years (ahem decades) that would lead me to believe they can put together a team that will go to a SB and win it.

Yay, they have a CFL coach with a mediocre at best QB in Cutler! They SHOULD have been rebuilding the Defense over the last few years but didn't and now they are reaping what they've sown. Old, bad and ouchy.

This Bears team is almost as big of a disappointment as the Cubs. They've won one fucking SB in almost 30 years. This from a charter franchise no less.

Listen, keep drinking the orange and blue Kool Aid and enjoy yourself. I mean no ill will against you but you will be sorely disappointed in investing anything in this shoddy organization. I learned years ago to look at this team with a stink-eye because they are more inclined to fail than succeed.

I don't believe they will win the SB this year, there's no chance. My comment you quoted was more to complicate a different poster's line of thinking.

We've gone through this before, but I think you're wrong on at least two points: 1) They did put together a team that could go to the Super Bowl, and we know that because they did indeed go in 2006 and lost; 2) There is hope on offense; we know the D sucks, and so does the D coordinator, but again you have four players in their prime at RB, WR, and TE, and an average to slightly above average O-line. You add a couple more pieces to the O and I'm fine with that.

yeah actually my bad on that, i just noticed it and made a proper addendum to my previous post in this thread. you figure i should have been able to recognize Juiced's legendary posting style from a mile away, cuz his much-needed thoughts and opinions are anything but completely interchangeable with any one of 50+ posters on this board.

All that proves is that context is crucial in determining what the situation actually is.

If I told you in a month you'd leave a Casino with $1000 in your pocket, that sounds great. If, however, we find out that you went in with a million, with context we see it really ain't that hot of a deal.

Pretty much the same here. Even if we win, you can't possibly be so ... whatever ... that you think the Bears would actually win a playoff game -- likely against Carolina or San Francisco. Being at Soldier Field doesn't do anything remotely to cover the problems this team has.

I'd look some other places before Cutler.

So would you invest that kind of money into Cutler if he wasn't really the problem?

I'm not saying Cutler has been good. But there are lots of problems out there to be discussed.

None are as fun as Cutler Bashing though

Agree 100% with the bold items. How many times did NBC show McCown last night? Only fitting that he fumbled his first snap of the game too....

I'm not saying Cutler is the solution, but Dr Ken is correct with regards to last night. Cutler didn't punt the ball 20 yards, and he didn't fumble on the kickoff. He didn't run for 3 yards on the first play of the game, and he got sacked on 3rd down having zero time to throw. Nobody on the Bears played well last night, but c'mon Cutler haters. Dude was down 14-0 after 3 he was able to run 3 offensive plays. The defense gave up 516 yards to the Eagles. 516 yards and 54 points. But its all Cutler's fault.

Last night was painful to watch on all levels. Its times like these that I question why I care so much about sports. It was brutal.

That said, my TV will be tuned to Fox at 3:25 on Sunday

Maybe if the first 10 plays they run get more than 26 yards we aren't having this conversation. Maybe if he didnt have yet another characteristically slow start they aren't down 21 0 and its 21 10 to at least give some sort of chance. Usually the talk is of how isn't Jay great in the 4th quarter as if it excuses his mediocre play o many first halves. Well sorry but last night his slow start and bad play (covered receivers couldn't bail him out this time but Lordy he can make all the throws ) were just as much to blame as anything else . He was average at best , below average most of the time when he needed to be great. McCown gets shit for not winning against Minnesota and only scoring 20 , same Vikings who put up 47 fucking points against the Eagles with the great Matt Cassel chucking it. That was all on McCown though so I'm sorry but scoring 11 against these same 31st against the pass Eagles is on Cutler

This is the NFL. The Bears had a bad game on the road. It happens. They play a playoff game at home on Sunday and if they win they will play another playoff game at home. Losing 1 game (regardless of the margin) shouldn't change a lot of opinions about this team and offense. They are in a great position and there is zero doubt in my mind that they will win on Sunday.

I'm not talking the first 10 plays. I'm talking the first three plays. Do you honestly believe that if McCown starts last night, Forte rips a big run to start the game? Has McCown never had a 3 and out series with the Bears? 3 yard run up the middle (surprise!), pass play that goes nowhere and Cutler manages to run for 3 or 4 yards, and a sack. Next time the Bears get the ball, they are down 14-0.

How in the world you can possibly point the finger at Cutler for the start of that game?

Are you a Bears fan? Your Bears posts are full of hatred. Maybe you should do something else on Sundays.

My posts are full of hatred because I hate this team. I hate the players, the coaches, the Head Coach and especially the ownership for wasting Bears fans' Sundays since 1985.

Your advice is well received and probably is the best course of action. I freed up my entire summer after I stopped watching/supporting the White Sox, pretty much for the same reasons (poor players, poor coaching and shitty ownership).

This team really is a joke. Third largest market, a charter franchise but a very pedestrian record with the occasional playoff appearance mixed in. This was the Bears chance to win the division since the Lions suck and Rodgers is hurt, but as is the Bears they got ass-raped on National TV. Marc Trestman is in way over his head as was put on display last night. He has no business being in the NFL.

This team will wilt again next Sunday to a Matt Flynn-led Packers team and thus will end another wasted season.

I'm not asking for perfection, I'm asking for something worth rooting for.

Bro, the offense was not good, but honestly you cant put this loss on Cutty

Defense was heinous, no question. But zero offense against a shitty defense? (Against a team that had nothing to play for.) Cutler has to take some blame. McCown may have been no better, but McCown is not making $12m this year and expecting $18m+ next season.

Some of the blame but when looking at this game, he wasnt the main reason they lost.

He was bad. I wouldnt pay him either way.

Prior to that 20 yard punt, Mr. Strong Arm QB failed to make a routine throw because...

wait for it..

His throw was too fucking weak to reach the receiver.

I hate Forte. Dude NEVER makes something out of nothing. Often makes nothing out of something. Dude is a great "fantasy" player.

I'd be more than happy to say sayonara to both Cutler and Forte.

Eddie Lacy is a better back than Forte. Cutler is broken mentally and physically. Dude can get paid in Tennessee.

20 yard punt wouldn't even have been a issue if the Cutler led offense could manage a couple first downs . Again this was a game they needed their erstwhile franchise quarterback to be great and once again he's not. By the way this is nothing compared to what BRick is going to say , I'm just the warm up.
