Back when I had a building in Skokie that was bigger than I needed, I rented an office to an old guy named Lefty who had a one-man advertising company. I think he had one or two accounts left. He was really old school and pretty much just sat at his desk smoking all day. He would make these ads for newspapers by gluing little pictures on cardboard with mucilage. One day I tried to show him how to do that shit real fast using a Microsoft product. I was immediately sorry I did. He got this sad look and said, "I think I'll just keep doing it my way." Poor guy knew the world had passed him by. I feel that way myself sometimes when I walk through an empty racetrack grandstand or see a woman with no public hair.

Anyway, this old guy had been in Africa during WWII. He was attached to a medical unit that had a lot of doctors who came from Chicago and worked at Michael Reese. This unit was heavily Jewish as was Lefty himself. In addition to treating Americans, they also treated some German prisoners or war. When the Germans received blood, Lefty and his buddies liked to go up to them and say, "That's judenblut." One German said back to them, "Judenblut ist gut."

I think it's just where and when you grew up . Looking through purloined dirty mags in the mid 70s and 80s as a yute, girls with the bush is what was the norm and looked "right" to me.
