The Illinois State Police will conduct roadside checks Saturday night into Sunday morning on the Interstate 90 ramp westbound to Rt. 31.

Will post more as I find them... others please add to the list. Of course I want you to drive safely, but watch out for the Police State.

It used to be a good show. Just a little overexposed.

I'll be at Mac's cabin in the woods. They won't find me there.

You can always assume they will be doing a check on the Arlington Heights Road exit off 90. They don't even bother taking away the mobile lane closure flashing light stands during the week -- they just store them under the viaduct.

Too bad they didn't have a roadside check to stop Franklin Jackson this past Sunday. Jackson was driving while intoxicated, with an open beer, a bottle of vodka he emptied and made the decision to drive intoxicated with his 4 year old son in the back seat unbuckled and not in a child safety seat. He hit a guard rail on the Dan Ryan expressway near the 87th street exit. The 4 year old was sent flying out of the rear window onto a grassy embankment where he was found dead by Police. Jackson did not stop his vehicle until he reached a gas station, where he pulled in to look over the damage he had done to his vehicle. He has been charged with reckless Homicide and aggrevated DUI. Jackson admitted to the fact that he had been drinking. Jackson has 3 other children age 3, 1 and 3 months old.

It's not just the idiot driving while intoxicated that need to be considered. It's also innocent passengers in the vehicle they foolishly decide to operate while impaired as well as those operating vehicles they may strike and those passengers travelling in those vehicles as well.

That's exactly why we should post police at every on-ramp throughout the state. He never could have made it on to the highway without going on a ramp.

I suppose it's a good idea to impose unreasonable searches on thousands of innocent drivers to catch a guy who blows a .08.

More people die in car accidents this year than last. Fewer people were murdered in Chicago than last year. Accidents are a bigger issue. I imagine drinking plays a role in a large portion of them. I have no problem with these types of checks during the holidays. I'm sure they save lives even though they may be annoying to some. It's not an everyday thing.

they used to need a reason, thats why the enacted the seatbelt law. "seatbelt safety check ahead"

now its just "safety check ahead" which could just say "gestapo check ahead" and it would mean the same thing

Just what we need, more cops. Every ramp will be a "Check Point Chickie". Great use of resources.

Sad thing is that just about any of our American Rights could be rescinded in the name of the Greater Good.

What rights could be rescinded in the name of the Greater Good or which ones are being ignored in this particular example of roadblocks?

Unlawful search and seizure is one of those damn amendments. But as was pointed out seat belt checks are an administrative way to lie and catch drunks.

The right to be detained without charge, the right to collect data on our cell phones without a court order, the right to illegally searched and seized, the right to be spied on by drones...

I was saying many of the rights people complain about losing are rights that have never existed or were taken away a long time ago. This mild "inconvenience" doesn't seem like a good battle to fight.

Even the Supreme Court ruled that Roadside Checkpoints were unconstitutional in 1990, but allowed the states to make their own rules, which is positively befuddling in my opinion.

How many years has this been going on? Once we were made aware of it nothing changed. As I said months back MOST of the public would forget about this pretty fast.
