You are seriously asking what has Rose done wrong after watching this drama play out over the last couple of years? What hasn't Rose done wrong. It goes way deeper than Rose just getting hurt.

But either way, Bernsie wrote a piece criticizing him, not much different than many people here who have been critical of Rose.

What are these horrible consequences that Bernsie is going to have to deal with?

Do you really think it bothers him? He is loving all the attention. His status remains the same today as it was before all of this started. He is the face of sports talk radio in Chicago. Is he going to lose his job because of this? Not hardly.

I side with JORR on Rose; he really hasn't done anything beyond waffling on his intent/ambition to play last year. It's really a non-issue this year. Bernstein on the other hand is trying to browbeat him into adopting a new personality that suits Bernstein's own tastes and sensibilities. That whole dynamic can have racial and classist undertones.

You never know how these things can blow up. Sometimes it takes awhile. It would suggest that the heat his is taking isn't going unnoticed by WSCR/CBS management. How about if Reggie Rose shows up on TV next week with Jesse Jackson? That might sound silly, but things like this blow up all the time.



I don't think he's happy that people with national platforms are calling him out on his racism. Deadspin is big enough that bernstein is constantly quoting it. I would imagine it's big enough that he is concerned about being painted as the racist he is by them. And now the NBA itself is firing on him. Shit, even the B&b PR wing over at MSFMB can't defend him on this one.

Obviously, I'm not the only one who read his column that way. What do you think is so significant about the column that it is getting this kind of play? A radio guy criticized an athlete? Oh, yeah, that's big news! There are all kinds of undertones here. If you want to ignore them, I can't really see you as anything but an apologist for bernstein.

Again, I'm not sure what you think Rose did wrong? You think he should have played when he didn't feel ready based on the advice of the same doctors who couldn't diagnose meningitis. Who do you think cares about Rose more- his brother or Jerry Reinsdorf?

But criticism of Rose can be of different types. Here and elsewhere you'll find guys getting on Rose because they think he's soft and selfish. Bernstein's critique/invective is different, as the excerpt DiC provided illustrates.

I just think you guys are holding him to a different standard than you hold yourselves to--or even people like Jason Whitlock. Whitlock can have negative opinions about white players, even make fun of "whitey" as a consitent part of his show/schtick, but yet is he considered racist in everything he does?

But in the end I guess it is Bernsie's own fault. He is part of a show that uses racial stuff consistently. So I guess it is only natural for people to call him racist for having an opinion about a black player.
