I haven't believed Leonardo DiCaprio in ANY movie he has ever been in.

Why people think this guy is some great actor is beyond me. He plays the same cocksure little twerpy skinny shit in every movie he is in.

I literally have not bought ANY character he has portrayed - I have always seen, just. .. . him, a perrrenially-underaged-looking guy who seems to always be playing guys much older than he appears to be.

He's one of those Hollywood types whom you KNOW has sucked plenty of dick for roles, and by now, he probably likes it like Travolta.

I like The Departed but it was just good for me, not great. Could have been great if:

No Boston accents
Less of the annoying whore girlfriend
Jack Nicholson actually wanting to act instead of just showing up and cashing his checks

Yeah I think Gangs of New York and Catch me if you can were his best roles by far. He's ok in Django. Departed and Shutter Island sucked.

come on, "gangs of new york"? what was your favorite part of his performance? his off and on "irish" accent, or his inability to even pretend to look like a tough guy? there is one reason to see that movie, and it is solely for the performance of daniel day-lewis. other than that it's a huge mixed bag, and a lot of it is awful.

I believed him as the torchered son hellbent on revenge. I thought he played off DDL well.

it's because of lewis's performance that blinds a lot of people to its mediocrity. it has a lot of potential but drowns itself in a banal love story that isn't credible, bloated sequences that don't push the story forward, and ancillary characters that aren't interesting.

setting up the story to be about the 5 points was promising but scorcese was past his prime to make an effective movie about it. it remains a very flawed film, but is almost redeemed by the character of bill the butcher.

yeah it's very rare that an american can pull off an accent and make it credible. i will say, i used to think don cheadle was british (i first noticed him in "oceans 11").
