You are whining that stuff wasn't delivered because the weather was bad.

You shouldn't have waited for the last second to order stuff.

Quit your bitchin.

You still got your stuff, and you're getting refunds from most of the retailers.

Was it really because the weather was bad? I thought it was simply because the volume was greater than they anticipated?

This. The volume of on-line orders overwhelmed then.

Stories I was hearing involved weather issues at distribution centers, but I still don't care.

Well I'd say there's a huge difference between being late on packages because of an of God versus not being properly equipped to handle the volume of holiday shipping.

It was probably both. My regular UPS guy said this was the busiest Xmas season he has ever seen. Added volume with bad weather in parts of the country adds up to this. It could be, Lipid, that the act of God caused the added volume to arrive at a later date/later hour and lead to fucked up shipping times.

Agree with the nomination though. I ordered something that didn't end up arriving on time, so I printed a picture of it and put that in my wife's card.

In all the articles I've read so far I haven't seen the weather mentioned once, so while I could certainly see that being a problem, the fact that the people who screwed up aren't using it as an excuse tell me it really wasn't the problem.

The whole Amazon Prime 2 day free shipping thing is huge and it sounds like that had a lot to do with it.

If McCown was your UPS/FedEx guy, your shipment would not have been late.

I thought the problem was packages were late, not that they were stolen mid transit?

anyone capture the look of buyer's remorse on your wife's face when she opened her Christmas present to find a print-out of a web site.

Nah, Franklin ordered her a real man. She'll be fine.

i'm an Amazon junkie (and a Prime member in good standing of course)
i probably placed ~10 orders in Nov/Dec
only 1 arrived later than the 2 day window, and it was a pair of winter gloves i ordered for myself that were supposed to come 12/24 and haven't shown up yet
so at least in my opinion, they did pretty good

ive read on Consumerist.com if you are a Prime member and your stuff arrives late if you complain they'll extend your membership by a month...also said they were actually limiting Prime signups , probably because of all this mess

I sent a bunch of Garrett's Popcorn out to customers. I did it early in December and everything arrived within 3-5 days like they promised. I just got an e-mail with a free $20 credit for my shipping troubles. I didnt have any troubles but I'll be happy to eat some free popcorn.

Amazon Prime is the shit, had it for years. I hope they don't get rid of it. If you consider the ~10% sales tax in Crook County, Amazon's usually better prices + free 2 day prime shipping makes it so you never feel like setting foot in a Best Buy or Target again.

Amazon is taking on everyone- they have a grocery service to compete with Peapod, they're trying to compete with Costco and warehouse clubs with large quantity/package items

the end is nigh

I sure hope it doesn't go away. I get my money's worth. We order certain grocery items by the case and save a shit ton of cash.

Yeah, Prime is one of the best purchases I've ever made...just the free 2 day shipping would be well worth the investment but the Amazon Instant Video that is included is a huge plus.

And thanks so much for heads up on Chebe from Amazon.

We do gluten free from Amazon. (Tax deductible for GF food by the way) It saves a small fortune.

And meat and organic produce from Costco.

A streaming video service, much like Netflix/Hulu/Redbox Instant...there is a lot of overlap with what is available to stream with Netflix, but I figure I'm paying Amazon for the free shipping and the video is just a secondary feature, so I'm cool with it.

They do have five seasons of Good Eats on there though, which makes it pretty choice, IMHO.

i appreciate the heads up. WSe have had Prime for three years now and never knew this. Prime was an amazing deal before this.

No worries. The same thing happened to me as well. Signed up for Prime last fall and used it happily for about six months or so. One day I was browsing the apps available on Xbox 360 and one of them was Amazon Instant Video. Saw it was for Prime members and my mind was blown.

i'm actually slightly disappointed with the video/tv selection....
its OK but after rpb was going on about all the Rocky movies i thought i'd go back and rewatch them...none on them are on prime all are 2.99 to rent
the free selection i find a bit underwhelming, and their rental prices are a bit steep.....2.99 yeah its not a lot but for a 20 or 30 year old movie....and 1 time i rented a new release and it was like 7$ which is just insane
if you already have Netflix i think it's pretty much useless

Yeah, they also go drug dealer on you with some shows. My wife watched the first 2 seasons of Downton Abbey and went to watch the third season and of course had to pay for that one.

i think if you don't want watch a ton of things, and kind of want to do a piecemeal/a la carte type of things, it might be worth it

but if you're gonna rent even 3 or 4 movies at 3$ a piece, say.....you might as well just get Netflix or another premium service that doesn't charge per movie and has more content
