Also, I'd say these guys are more like executives. If I had a job, hypothetically, there is no "off". Unless you're on your honeymoon or something, you might be away from the office and only to be reached in an emergency. But, you're also checking your email multiple times a day and responding to things, making some calls, because there is no "backup" for certain positions and things just need to be dealt with.

their job is to talk sports... they know when the NFL season starts and ends every year. February is a dead month where these hosts should be taking time off. To bernstein's credit he rarely takes time off during the year. I enjoy B&B bears mondays at around 3pm when they finally let the callers talk. Oh well not today i guess

When do they ever let callers "talk"? I've heard them cut callers off in mid first sentence to berate them, ridicule them, and tell them their opinions are wrong, but I've never heard them let callers talk.

The last day of football season is an important day for sports talk radio in Chicago EVERY SINGLE YEAR and can be scheduled pretty much years in advance.

These are the easy shows. I don't know why you wouldn't want to be there.

I enjoy dumb bears calls and how angry they make dan.... if you want to listen to callers speak for 30-60 seconds without interruption you need to find a different show to listen to

my thoughts exactly on M&H being TOO generous to their callers

I don't listen to M&H so I couldn't say, but I doubt I'd like that. I do find it annoying when callers ramble on and hosts like Hub let them go on and on, but that's a far cry from what Bernstein does with most callers when they can't even go for 10 seconds before getting mocked and ridiculed. And everyone here knows that. When its justified then by all means let the meatball caller have it, but when it comes down to someone's clearly stated opinion, or mispronouncing McCown, then its PTFB time.

There is a happy medium to be sure. BUT ff I had to pick one or the other give me the BernStine approach to callers everytime. At least then I might get a chuckle out of it. Instead of listening to Al from Chicago Heights blather on for a minute about the Bears without making a point and calling the QB McNown the whole time.

Regardless, I think taking calls - or at least as many calls as most shows take - is pointless. I'd rather hear the hosts discuss things and then bring on a guest, then maybe bring on a call or two. But to have call after call of John, Joe and Bob tell us what they think about McCown or Jeffery, is pointless. But I also think its pointless to allow the calls on just to scream them down as idiots. I suppose it can be funny at times but on a day like today it would be very annoying.

Hub finally conceded he was wrong about Long, though he still claims the Bears could have waited to get him.
