If you believed in your heart that doing so was going to open you up to a ton of abuse from fans in opposing stadiums, as well as some loss of popularity from your own fan base and cause you to lose endorsements, is it really an easy thing to do? Even if there might be millions who would support him, most of those people wouldn't be in NFL stadiums on Sundays. Many who would be critical of his lifestyle choice, are more likely to be at games.

He's the best player in the sport. Fans will still support him and I believe he may get even more endorsements. No chance a company would drop him.

I wouldn't be surprised if the % in football was higher than the general population. It's the perfect cover for a young kid that wants to stay in the closet.

It's a shame that GB fans don't want to watch a playoff game in person because Aaron might be gay. It's a sad statement on society actually.

You have to admit unless you’re a total homophobe that it was at least brave of him to do that interview and some other ones he’s given where he basically doesn’t leave any doubt about his lifestyle but also doesn’t make a huge announcement or anything.
Yet probably because of the reaction in Wisconsin he has been forced according to other reports or at least he was talked into it by his manager and/or PR person to basically get some publicity about going out on a date with a famous woman, basically “damage control” after the interviews came out.
So Florio is basically right, even after having the courage to tell the world how he is Rodgers was forced by the backlash to go back to pretending, which is kinda sad.
