I guess no team needed an experienced Pro Bowl Safety

But for real - there are many hollywood celebs for example who have gay assistants and publicists. Remember that crazy David Spade thing where he got attacked by his assistant? Who I think may have lived in same house.

Let's move on to more important topics like fibromyalgia. C'mon people.

Spade was attacked with his pants around his ankles according to him. It was a bullshit story. Aaron Rodgers should come forward if he enjoys meat packing. The best player in the NFL would really help their cause.

If you believed in your heart that doing so was going to open you up to a ton of abuse from fans in opposing stadiums, as well as some loss of popularity from your own fan base and cause you to lose endorsements, is it really an easy thing to do? Even if there might be millions who would support him, most of those people wouldn't be in NFL stadiums on Sundays. Many who would be critical of his lifestyle choice, are more likely to be at games.

He's the best player in the sport. Fans will still support him and I believe he may get even more endorsements. No chance a company would drop him.

I think it would depend greatly on the backlash he might get. If he were getting abused verbally at stadiums regularly and him popularity waned even amongst GB fans, I could see it happening. Actors and Actresses still hide it, for fear of damage to their careers. I would think the risk is much greater for a Football player. He's supposed to be tough and Macho and the gay stereotypes are just the opposite. I think it COULD bring some new endorsement as well, but the fear of the unknown is a reasonable one here.

I wouldn't be surprised if the % in football was higher than the general population. It's the perfect cover for a young kid that wants to stay in the closet.

A lot of the hazing that goes on is really gay.

I haven't heard that. Where was that reported? If the backlash is too much, the Bears should offer Jay to GB for Rodgers. I think Chicago would be happy to fill Soldier field for playoff games he would start for them.

That is absurd. They haven't sold tickets because none of the season ticket holders bought any as they thought there was zero shot at making the playoffs. There is no backlash against Internet rumors.

The gm is most likely gay and no one has cared and that has been rumored for years.

I think that Aaron Rodgers is living proof that it’s possible for an openly gay QB to play in the NFL.

There are no homosexuals in the NFL.
****************************************
Bob Nelson, how can you say that when you’re a Packer fan and Aaron Rodgers is pretty much openly gay with a Packers trainer? How can you hate on your own QB just because of his sexual preference??

I will say this about Aaron Rodgers as far as how he relates to Florio’s post. You have to admit unless you’re a total homophobe that it was at least brave of him to do that interview and some other ones he’s given where he basically doesn’t leave any doubt about his lifestyle but also doesn’t make a huge announcement or anything.
Yet probably because of the reaction in Wisconsin he has been forced according to other reports or at least he was talked into it by his manager and/or PR person to basically get some publicity about going out on a date with a famous woman, basically “damage control” after the interviews came out.
So Florio is basically right, even after having the courage to tell the world how he is Rodgers was forced by the backlash to go back to pretending, which is kinda sad.

Sounds like twizzlystick here was on to something 3.5 years ago.

They say that is why he went down so far on draft day.

Not sure if you're serious, but I believe that is probably true.

I bought into the "Tedford QB's dont work in the NFL" being the reason, but looking back this makes more sense

 I never imagine that! I know guys make gay jokes all the time but the actual thought of two guys getting it on is revolting. JimmyDuckDynasty

It might be revolting for Gays thinking of two hetero's getting it on,too.

He is very supportive of gays, yet doesn't say he is gay. I remember him making some very critical comments about how many overweight women there are in Chicago and how horrible they look. Makes me wonder if he just doesn't care for the female body in general very much? He seems REAL anxious for someone else to come out. Unlike Rodgers, he seems anxious to talk about the subject.

Might want to be careful about any talk of any support for gays in the league. Maybe only if you are a punter, though.
