My favorite rap is still the Sugar Hill Gang. Anyone remember the 8th Wonder?

Tom Petty & Aerosmith are two musical abominations whose entire catalogs I would stricken from the musical record in a heartbeat if given the chance.

Featured Artist Friday suggestions (even though I don't listen):

Procol Harum
Gentle Giant
Rush
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Rush
The MC5

You're nuts.
Tom Petty rocks. Tons of classics there. And Aerosmith? What's your beef there? One of the best Rock bands ever.

I just fail to see how Aerosmith and Tom Petty's music aren't "faggy" and Rush's is.

I have never understood what people have against Petty. I do think that he falls under the Oversaturated Classic Rock category but that's hardly his fault.

"Breakdown" is admittedly overplayed, so is "Won't Back Down", but there are some gems...

Same with Aerosmith. In fact they have a record with that name!

Not at all. I just cant stand that type of rap. Run DMC and a very select few others I like, but I reall cant stand "gangsta rap" I value lyrics alot and as far as that goes, not only does it not add value to the music, it detracts from it. I love Ray Charles, Michael Franti, the Roots, Jimi Hendrix, and many others, just no respect for artists that decide to use those kind of lyrics in their music. Non gangsta Rap and Hip Hop is listenable, but still not my preferred music

Aerosmith sucks. Along with AC/DC, they've been making money on essentially the same song for the past 35 years.

What? Whiney, bubble gum pop music produced only to get air play on MTV and the radio and sell millions of records? hmm... seems to have worked. Congratulations, Aerosmith, you've become the Backstreet Boys! I'm sure Satan will be calling to collect Steve and Joe's souls anytime now.

Whiney bubblegum? that's stupid. Like calling your ex-girlfriend to tell her you love her.
Look I don't know what the hell is going on in Dwight but Aerosmith has been around much longer than MTV.

I love Aerosmith's music. And I didn't mean to imply that they never existed before MTV. But let's be honest, most of it that came out after Get A Grip and got a lot of airplay was the "ballad" type songs. Give me the classic, rockin' Aerosmith tunes any day. And let's not forget, it was Run-DMC that helped get the boys back in the spotlight again in the mid 80's.

I'm Cryin, cause I'm Crazy, and it's amazing....

(seriously those three songs are all the same.)

But I did love Boogeyman. You may have a point there about Run-DMC. But really, Aerosmith would be one of those long lived bands anyhow, just too many classics.

BTW, I'm going to see them in Sept. Interesting to see how old the crowd is.

Totally agree with you DS. Aerosmith are rock legends and you can't take that away from them. I saw them back in '88 on the Permanent Vacation tour. Awesome show. I just haven't had the desire to see them in the last decade or so or buy any of their newer tunes.

Isn't Joan Jett opening for them?

Yes, she is, and that is actually why Mrs. Darkside received the tickets for her birthday.
