Regarding Dan's point about the Hawks that "they are a five-on-five team, power play and penalty kill don't matter," I would say that killing penalties does matter and that their penalty kill was a huge part of last year's championship. I agree that the shootouts are nothing to sweat.

But they're not "far and away the best team in the NHL." The Blues and Ducks are quite a bit better than the Blackhawks.

The only time these guys, despite their ironic self-mocking, SHOULD talk hockey is if they get an actual "hockey guy" on the phone. And, no, not some producer on another show who likes hockey...an actual guy. Like Eddie O, or someone of his ilk.

Shootouts would be fine if there weren't so damn many of them every year. We're on pace for like 200 shootout games this season or something insane.

Rough show today. The Matt Bowen stuff sucked. Then Bernstein with his syrup tip was kind of gay. He really sounds like he would be the shittiest dad. He said he lifted his "screen limit" for the kids yesterday, really. Then to wrap up the show we get forced hockey talk. Them talking hockey is a rough go, but when you can tell it's forced, it makes it worse.

unfortunately for B&B and Mitch Rosen they have to pay attention tot he Hawks now.... the cutler saga has ended, the bears are not a playoff team, the bulls are not relevant and they already completed the deng trade that everyone knew must happen.... the hawks are the only Chicago sports team worth discussing for the next 2-3 months...
