Was it really necessary to keep kids home from school today? Sure, it was balls cold, but still.

I dunno I wouldn't want my kid standing outside at 730 a in -17 degrees with 20 mph winds waiting on a bus.

Maybe they didn't need to close school again today, but for fuck's sake it didn't hurt a damn thing to do it either; better safe than sorry with kids is what I thought was the position of reasonable people.

I kind of got into to it with a mother today that always drops her daughter off at school, as she stated the same thing. I then informed if her her daughter wasn't so lucky and got stranded at a bus pick up she might feel different. It was amazing how fast her tune changed on the subject.

Kids having to walk in the street because people havent shoveled.

i had ch. 9 on because of the Bulls game (yeah i know) and they led off the news with a pipe bursting at the cook county courthouse on 26th and california
they teased it before hand showing people scurrying about with squeegies and such, then the actual story was like 2 minutes long, the field reporter was like 'one time isolated incident, quarantined to the lobby, will be open tomorrow'
huge story to lead off the news with

They'll be patched up just in time for the first freeze in October to destroy them again.

WTF was that tonight? 3 accidents right in front of the house. cars coming over the hill couldnt stop. i walked out there with a bucket of salt and started throwing it on the street, because that shit froze suddenly within minutes.. there was no warning. people were cheerin for me when they saw the salt. i almost fell when i lifted the bucket above my head like a trophy
