i used Office Depot the other day to print/laminate some things for work...paid online to pickup using my Paypal account...in any case i didn't realize i still had my old home phone number on Paypal since i don't use it often. i disconnected it like 3 years ago, since no one really has a home phone

anyways, the woman there was like oh we tried to call you about something but it was the wrong #
she showed me the # and i said oh, that's my old home phone it's been disconnected for a few years now
she said no, someone actually answered and said it was the wrong number

so apparently they do reuse some numbers, who knows what the criteria is


They recycle old #'s after six months.

Because the phone companies buy up the numbers by thousands and horde them.

When I originally got my phone I got calls for a guy named Shaquille the first few weeks.

the home # i referenced above was the number for a pool store, that was actually listed in the phone book as "The Pool Store"

when we moved in, for at least the first 4-5 years we'd get probably 4-5 calls a week from people thinking that's what it was, and more than that in the summer
i couldn't understand how it kept appearing in the phone book in the yellow pages year after year but never did anything about it

once in awhile if i was really stoned or drunk i'd fuck with the people...one time this guy was asking if we carried some kind of filter, i was like yea its 19.99 and he said are you sure its like a 200$ thing, i said yeah it's on sale this week come on in . but most of the time it was just annoying

On the trading floor we were one number off of a Divorce Attorney. Fun times were had

Anything that connects to a cell tower has to have a phone number I believe. I know the usb laptop connections do. I believe tablets do also.

I'm not sure if they have fixed that issue for 4G but most certainly will have to for 5G since that will put cell tower connections into your toaster.
