I think Neko Case is required to play all these hipster festivals.

Nothing really stands out here. Seems more like a standard festival.

Not enough bands with exclamation marks in their names.

It's nice to see Darkside got a spot on the bill.

i'm not quite sure i'd call Coachella a hipster festival

their big thing is the "reunion/one-off" thing so Outkast of course.....

the only serious draw for me would be The Knife, who for some reason have never played a proper US club tour which drives me insane, in fact they've only played 3 US dates ever

The Outkast reunion doesn't really excite me much. When did they "break-up"? Maybe 5 years ago? Seems to be too soon, IMO.

the lifecycle of reunions/nostalgia acts has shortened considerably in the past few years...5 years is nothing

The Saturday dates have a handful of bands I would see but certainly not enough to buy what is likely
a very expensive ticket.

Will this be better or worse than The Gathering of the Juggalos?

The fact that you never actually see the interviewer asking the questions leads me to believe that's 100% fake. So, not really funny. Plus it sounds like her voice is dubbed over.

That lineup is awful. At least now everyone won't have to worry about the music distracting from the rampant drug use. Finally, a festival that gets what is most important.

I think it is 100% real, however, I will bet that a majority of the people did answer that they never heard of the bands and that was edited out.

Reminds me of my one TV interview. It was the summer of 2004. At a Cardinals game, I was approached by the Fox Sports Midwest crew and asked who was playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Apparently I was the first person to get the answer right, out of at least 20+ people. My buddies called me up a couple days later to say they're watching me on TV. I didn't get any royalties from that appearance. Dammit.

There you go, even though it is Southern CA so I dont think it too much editing to get those answers.

Those are the people I went to school with and I think this is a bigger % of those who attend than you would imagine.

I don't think it's terrible. The smaller print bands are more worth the price than the large print.

Much like Lolla, how many times do we need bands like Arcade fire, Beck, QOTSA, and Muse headlining these big festivals? Look past them and see who is there.

There is some crap in there too: Beady eye, 1975...actually the more I look at it, that Sunday lineup is hurting. yikes.

there are definitely some great bands to see in there..but i'd have to look long and hard at what the 'exclusives' are....like Replacements, Outkast, Knife, etc....bands who either don't play often or at all

like Ty Segall for example...sure i love him, would be great to see him...but he plays here a few times a year where i can see him with 100-200 people, not 100-200K people

i just can't imagine standing a mile back and watching someone on a Jumbotron, what's the point ?

I get that, believe me.

It is nice to see a couple dozen of the bands I'd like to see all at once though.

You'd go and stand in the front row for 3 days just to see Haim.

no way, already seeing HAIM in May at the Riv buddy boy 8)

yea i get the consolidation factor seeing a lot at once...i just feel like Pitchfork is the max for me. it's run perfectly and the size, while large obviously, isn't such that it's unmanageable or you feel like you're lost in a sea of people

oh and for those of you about to book your plane tickets....apparently since 2010 you aren't able to buy single day passes, it's either a 400$ 3-day pass or nothing.
