This is the first time that I can remember that I really do not care who wins the conference championship games. I just want to see some good games.

The NFC game should be one for the ages. These teams are going to beat the crap out of each other in a very viewer friendly way.

Manning can be knocked for not winning as much as Brady, but I don't think he and the word "over-hyped" belong in the same sentence. In fact after owning or finishing in the top three or two of several QB stat categories, including this year at age 37 with a gimpy body and dead arm, after he broke the TD record and led Denver to one of the most prolific offensive showings in history, it would be an understatement to say he matched all the hype.

Now rings as we know is a different story. I do think on the whole his playoff record is satisfying; in a league which prides itself on the lack of championship monopolies like the Bulls or Yankees, two appearances ain't that bad, plus he's been in the playoffs probably 95% of the time over his career, so it's not like he was holding Denver or Indy back.

He's no Jay Cutler. That's for sure.

I think of all the teams that made the playoffs this year in the NFC San Francisco is probably the only one that could be beat Seattle at home, so I have to pick San Fran.

I do think that the Patriots having to travel to Denver will make a difference. Denver should have easily won the last game at New England. Home field advantage should definitely help the Broncos.

I don't think there's any doubt that this season these are the 4 best teams in football. As far as the NFL goes I don't think there would be a bad matchup for the Super Bowl regardless of which teams win.

My hope is, both Super Bowl teams have a bad matchup with the weather. Nor'easter anyone?

Yes I've always wondered this. I love the guy.

Overly hyped at Tennessee. Couldn't win the big game there

Similarly hyped in NFL and failed hard in the playoffs for a long time.

He's fun o root against. And he's a fuckin nerd

He's won a Super Bowl.

Yeah...he won one.

I been saying for years about manning looking like a different qb in post season, this is the first year I have heard the
media catch on. In his only super bowl win he is the ONLY qb in history to have more turnovers than tds n in post season n have his team win a superbowl...but you never hear anybody mention it...he has his defense n running backs to thank for that lone win...hes over rated.

What he have last year at home against ravens? 2 picks n fumble? The only reason denver was in that game was special teams scored 2 tds.

I am hoping for a blizzard in NY for the Super Bowl.

I just wish our franchise quarterback could even get to the playoffs and suck as often as Manning .

No but he was horrible in a lot of the early playoff games. Its not like he was losing games 55-49. He was losing 20-3 with 3 interceptions.

Time to jump on the Manning bandwagon because he is winning #2 this year.

I think only San Francisco has a chance against them and I doubt they can win in Seattle.

I was thinking that early in the game yesterday. Denver's D was looking good and I was thinking "With Home field and this defense, Peyton could get number two"

Then the chargers made their comeback attempt. They were one 3rd and 17 away from likely tying the game.

I wouldnt count out Brady. And I wouldnt discount Peyton's ability to lose a playoff game.

I just don't know how he is "overloved." The dude, statistically, is the most prolific passer in NFL history. Yes, that is regular season only and, yes, he has played in a pass-happy era. It's still extremely impressive.

Here is the most important stat to me: the last time he didn't make the playoffs while playing a full season was 2001! He literally makes the playoffs every year. I would take those chances with a QB every year. Just get me in and see what happens.

Once in the playoffs, which is undoubtedly stiffer competition than regular season, he still has a rating of 88.6. Tom Brady's playoff rating? 87.2.

Brady has also had a better coach and a better organization around him. I'm not saying Brady doesn't deserve the credit he gets; I'm just saying the criticism of Manning is a little much. The dude has won 1 Super Bowl, appeared in 2, and has made the playoffs every year of his career (basically), which is absolutely amazing in today's NFL. After this year, he may end up with another ring.

Oh, I should also mention that he is on his way to his FIFTH MVP.

1) The hate was established long ago, starting at Tennessee and continued thru his playoff embarassments. There is no going back. Ive said he is an all time great. But Ill never like the guy.

2) Manning had an offense littered with Pro Bowlers and Brady had Deion Branch and friends, so the stuff about a better organization is not true at all. If Peyton didnt choke his balls off three different times to the Pats, maybe the Colts win 2 or 3 super bowls and they become the standard, not the Pats

3) How many times did Peyton have a horrible game and get eliminated in the playoffs? How many for Brady?

4) Im allowed to not like good players, Leashstein!

I would make a distinction between "over-loved" and "over-rated". He clearly is one of the greatest QB's in league history. However, the media fawning and drooling over his every move gets to be a bit nauseating.

Yeah...my original point is definitely not that he's overrated. He's hardly that. His brother is, though.

He is absolutely over loved, though.

You guys are being a little Berstein-ish here. Am I not allowed to dislike a great player? I fucking hated Karl Malone too.

Depends on what you mean by hype. He was a stud by at least his second year. He put Indy back on the map. He became so adept at the two minute drill that he made irrelevant the position of offensive coordinator on two different teams. He knows where to go with the ball all the time, and he has or had pin point precision on each throw. I don't know what more you could ask of a first pick first round draft pack other than to task him with becoming one of the best QBs in NFL history, and one of the greatest players ever in team sports. He's done both and is still inexplicably setting records at age 37 despite coaches having seventeen years of tape to study his tendencies.

Like Leash said hate all you want, but there is no way a guy with his resume is overrated, so I disagree on that front with you and 312 player.
