Solid finale last night. I got a feeling season 5 could be the end of the show.

Definitely seemed like the beginning of the end. Sad to see Richard go but his storyline really didn't have
much going on so it was an interesting way for him to go out. I thought he was one of the more interesting
characters on TV for a few seasons there.

Why did it seem like the beginning of the end? They have a ton of possible stuff to still explore. I know it probably wont, but a show like this could easily crank out 8 or 9 quality seasons. They have all the necessary parts to do it.
I think they'll shift more to a New York City and Chicago based show.

That seems like the more interesting angle to take, but they cant really go too far in that direction or else the series name and opening sequence will start to seem pretty silly.

I just thought it felt that way with Nucky getting picked up by the feds and some other characters getting pinched.
I am not watching a series where 35% of the story is taking place in a courtroom. I doubt it will shake out that way
but it just felt that way to me. I have no problem with them cranking out 4 more seasons as long as they are strong.
HBO is kind of at the point where in a lot of cases their series kind of fizzle out and start to suffer from fatigue. Not
sure if that is because of writer turnover or what but it has happened.

I don't think the show is starting to fizzle out. I thought season 4 was their best season.

Agreed. I've always found it kind of odd that the star of the show is such a historically minor figure whereas some of the bit players are major figures from history. We've seen a lot of Capone and him taking over the rackets in Chicago and obviously they could do an entire series just on him. But, they've just barely scratched the surface on who I feel is the most interesting person on the show, Meyer Lansky. Without a doubt the most successful mobster in the history of American organized crime (only mob boss who never spent a night in prison and died an old man in his sleep), his coup of organized crime in NYC (alongside his partners Lucky Luciano, Bugsy Siegel and several other famous mobsters) that included the murders of mob bosses Masseria and Maranzano would end up being the biggest event in mafia history as it led to the creation of the 5 families and the nationwide syndicate. That angle alone could fill an entire mini series that could stretch on for decades as it covered what would become a 60 year reign of terror for the mafia in NYC.

I really hope they steer away from Nucky and move the show in a different and much more historically interesting direction.

I'm ok with this. I think they can make it a great final season and wrap things up strong. It's been a
very solid series for HBO.

How quickly will they be announcing the Al Capone spinoff show?
