helping someone look for an apartment. I think I found one on Craigslist (Not even sure where I found it) but just sounded to good to be true. 3 BR, 2 BA, all new, Lincoln Park, etc etc.

But, I sent the Email and I get the long PASTED and COPIED response. There is a link for a "Approval service", which might be the whole scam, but it didnt say "I need the approval process done before showing"

The Email said he can show it tomorrow. So, I said OK, 10AM Wed, whats the address.

Awaiting the reply.

There will be an application fee and they wont get the apartment.

Adam Carolla is doing a show right now called "To catch a contracter" based on to catch a predator where he takes sleazebag contractors to task for their shoddy work.

I could not think of a show that is more up your alley

I love Carolla....but I am not so shocked at bad work, sometimes you can do things right and it just breaks or something is used wrong, etc. What would be great is tracking down the guys who leave jobs or just dont show up.

its nigeria. they will ask for a pic of your genitalia and then you wont get the apartment.

think of it this way...on craigslist a long response means an idiot wrote it. smart people have too little time to waste on craigslist ad responses.

That is a very lucrative "trick". Depending on the area you can pay for the apartment without having to ever rent it out.

Maybe this guy takes 25$ from 50 people for a "credit check" with no intention of renting the unit.

Depending on the area and the price of the listing he could EASILY get $75 to $100 from a lot of people. If you can make $2k a month listing a $1000 unit for $600 then it really makes no sense to rent it.
