Does that make the lower-level sky-boxes "Bersteinvilles"?

Dan needs to not be so insulted by a typically bad david haugh column and a quote from noah.... he's pandering to meatball fans... big deal... laugh at how stupid it is but to spend the opening 30 minutes whining about it was not interesting radio

why not complain about the bulls marketing that is basically equating this try hard team to a try hard mentality chicagoans suppsedly have?

Chuckling it up at Bennett's tweet ripping RG3 for using Facebook, saying he's right. How many times a day do Score hosts refer us to their Facebook page? Answer: a lot.

He said it again! "Defenseman Peter Stastny will be out." First of all, it's not Quebec Nordiques legend Peter Stastny, it's his son Paul. Second, both père and fils play at center, not defense. What the hell is wrong with Rongey?

boy, Jim Caldwell could be next in the line of coaches that B&B are convinced are bad but turn out good. Mark this day down if the Lions turn out to be very good. They were saying this same stuff about Jim Harbaugh.

Yeah, but didn't we already know Caldwell was sort of an emptyhead with the Colts?

It always irritates me when Bernsie talks about how long he's been involved with these local teams like he's some kind of old-timer and wizened old veteran reporter.

I'm thinking "you're my age" and then I realize that 20 years is pretty damn long time and we're all old. Bums me out.

"I know you don't like to blame management, but how much can you blame Reinsdorf and Paxson?"

"How much is their fault? I don't think any of it."

And a caller just nailed this.

"[Noah]'s been steeped in it, I guess." Rings hollow from him, though. "You could hear it from Derrick, if he could articulate it." What a day.

Kind of revisionist to say that the Pistons were this ephemeral, lightning-in-a-bottle phenomenon. Didn't the Pistons make the conference final the year before, the NBA Finals the year after, and then three more conference finals after 2005? I mean, no, it's hardly a dynasty, and yes, the East was weak at the time, but it does speak to some considerable long-term success beyond simply making the playoffs a few times. I mean, they'd have made the Finals a third time in '07 if not for that crazy game LeBron had.

I think the Lions can win with a poster of Wade Phillips as their coach. Anybody but Metalhead.

Speaking of Rongey what were they bitching about with him and his update text early in the show. Bernsie said he was double locking them out or something?

Cubs saying anything about the Deadspin fun is about the dumbest thing they could do short of saying they intend to sue ... that's the only thing dumber I can think of.

You know what's good radio? Reading someone's email (Rudy) describing someone else's Tweet.

Kinda like one broad in a different office MAILED (as in USPS) us a fax she got that was meant for us .... I thought it was a great joke and sent an email to give her kudos, and tl;dr she didn't have any clue what was funny about it. She was also not slow-playing it; turns out she was stupid on a level that typically makes me apoplectic.

Was that Rudy to whom Dan attributed "the new mascot has no pants, but the old mascot had no feet"? God, I hope all these characters really are just Dan's noms des guerres because I don't want to think about all these hypereducated, snarky-but-articulate (snarticulate?) White Sox/Bulls fans just milling about the area.

I'm pretty sure it was Rudy emailing Dan describing a Tweet he received from someone else.

Disagree. One of the biggest problems with the local stuff is that they fashion themselves as personalities. Bernstein isn't really a personality. Boers used to be. Holmes isn't either. I don't want to hear about his kids nor the food that he likes. Its boring. I would rather have sports talk. The other problem with the local stuff is that it is way too predictable. Bears criticism is always centered around the quarterback or whomever the offensive coordinator is. You can lump the head coach in there also. The CTE stuff, Sandusky dragged out for far too long. You can't go to the score for in depth sports talk. McNeil will give you some but he is limited to football. Anyone interested in the personal lives of the host or find that stuff entertaining probably needs a life of their own. As far as the screaming he does it even when their are legitimade points to be made. The only emails that are read are those that agree with his point of view. There is a lack of depth to what they do and that is troubling for me thus I don't listen as much anymore

No, Dan has definitely created a personality. It just isn't one that suits his talents. Of course, the other guy who cultivated a character of "I'm passionate about gay rights and wealthy people and also go screw yourself" was elected mayor here, so maybe it does work.

I'm with you. An occasional glimpse at a host's personal life is fine. Grobstein and Boers will give you the least about their own lives. I can't attest to M+H since I don't listen much. Mac went way over the top at 1000 about his televisions, grilling, cuts of meat, and yard work. All that shit drove me away from his show. Guys like Spiegs and Bersnie, who are very similar dudes, much to Spiegs' chagrin I am sure, try to paint parenthood as some unique and sublime experience. Like they are the first two people to ever become fathers. You know because procreating and rearing your offspring hasn't been going on for hundreds of thousands of years. Tales of male domesticity are not interesting. We'd all be better served as an audience if Beerstain had a coke problem or Spiegs was out fucking hookers on the weekends and playing Tributo shows on angel dust.
