Some people make it a point to arrive for the previews. Once the lights go off so should the phones.

Probably correct, but still not a big deal if it was previews. Previews suck. Go home and rematch the trailer on YouTube if it's that damn important. If it was during the movie, it's at least .01% understandable. That it happened during the previews just makes this ex cop guy look fuckin pathetic. You're that hard off for entertainment that a stupid fucking movie preview is that important? He should fry just for being pathetic.

I'm with Bryan. Hope this ex-cop goes to prison and is treated like an ex-cop.

I think it's an example of how everyone walking around with a concealed weapon can be bad. He was as annoyed as many of us can be in traffic and he did something he'll probably regret. Considering his background he should have had more restraint.

The cop could have been right though. Who threw the popcorn? How big was the father? How small was the cop? It's plausible that he feared for his life.

So now any verbal altercation with a bigger person is gonna equal fear for ones life?

If the guy had no weapon, Id find it hard to consider that grave danger

As with Zimmerman, it appears this guy was looking for a confrontation

I'm not sure I'm a big fan of concealed carry either but we get plenty of public shootings without concealed carry being the reason the gun is there. If this was an accident then concealed carry could be to blame. This was just a psycho who was a psycho.

This is true but I don't know if we can really call the guy psycho until we get more details.

He's a retired cop.

They carry their guns into the shower with them.

Safe to say that he won't be repeating his mistake.

Sad to say that his daughter will one day realize that her father should have chosen a different way.

Is this a joke? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading this.

No.

That's exactly the conclusion she will need to draw from it one day. Unless the trauma leaves her so mentally scarred that she will be unable to.

That's funny, I figured her first thought might be, "if only that old guy hadn't brought his gun to a matinee and then used it to shoot my dad to death for throwing popcorn on him."

It's you and the silly pills.

She will one day realize that her father could have made 10 easy choices that prolly would have helped avoid the situation. It's tragic that neither one of them did just that.

You know, if she was never born, or had the Chinese never invented gun powder, her dad would still be alive. Really makes you think...

I'm withholding judgement until I find out whether the dead guy was eating skittles and drinking iced tea.

Her dad's actions had some tragic and final consequences. His machismo and pride played some role in the loss of his life. He was not some innocent bystander who was mistakenly hit in a drive by. She will be facing that difficult fact at some point in her life.

i didn't say that it should. Nor do i think that.

But in this instance, it unfortunately cost her father his life.

If only he weren't so foolhardy to assume he wouldn't be shot to death in a movie theater for throwing popcorn at an old man!

I can see how and older guy could be in fear of a younger guy. I still want to know more about the story. I would generally hope a cop has more restraint than the average citizen.

His actions had tragic consequences.

One person murdered another. Let's not make it anymore than that. There is absolutely nothing that could have been said that justifies that. Any missteps by the victim aren't really relevant to the conversation here, relative to what the consequence was.

I don't think the guy deserved to be shot for it, but the he obviously thought he could do whatever he wanted in the theater and tell the old man to fuck off and then throw popcorn at him.

There isn't anything remotely plausible that would mitigate some asshole (I don't care about age or previous employment, it's all irrelevant to the issue) shooting someone else for texting.
