You go after him the same way I do, by asking him why he is a hypocrite about takers. You have been straight up insulting people this entire thread.

And then you attacked me without even reading the report of the shooting.

I attacked you? I said it was sad that some people blamed the victim. Did you borrow Chas' victim card?

Man in glass house throwing stones alert.

Says the king of the straw man. I'm glad that you still have an arsenal of stones, you're going to need them.

Have a nice day.

Still waiting for a single straw man Chus. Just one.

You came in making comments about something you had not even taken the time to read.

Keeping throwing shit. Some will stick eventually.

Victim was wearing shower shoes and jumped in front of another guy in an attempt to catch a souvenir bullet for his kid.

The Sports Guy needs to be held accountable as well:

It's so amusing that you and Seacrest both try to hide your pathetically weak arguments behind ad hominem attacks.

I didn't attack you.

I mean no offense, but you do kind of rage over over innocuous message board discussions.

Be that as it may, it's still classifeid as an attack on the person [ad hominem], not their argument. What I may have done in other threads has zero to do with my point(s) or, more importantly in this case, it doesn't automatically bolster someone else's point(s) just because I may or may not have been an asswipe about entirely unrelated matters.

You don't have an argument here Chus. You commented on something without even knowing the facts.

You made comments without even reading what happened.

And going back to where you and i started, his daughter and wife will one day realize this. And after the loss of life, that is truly another incredibly tough and painful thing they will have to confront.

If the texting was so objectionable, the cop could have moved to a different seat. If something like another person texting in public, is going to send you into fits of rage, stay the fuck home.

Texting in a theater is objectionable to many, many people. Thankfully most of them aren't willing to shoot someone because of it. But I don't think a person who is doing nothing at all wrong should have to cower or crawl away in the face of rude behavior. Most people will. That's what the dead guy was counting on.

If the worst part of your day was having to endure somebody sending a couple texts during the previews at the movie theater, then I would say that life is pretty good. We all have to deal with things that suck when we go about our daily lives. People cut you off in traffic. People go through the express lines at the grocery store with a full cart. People dress like savages on airplanes. If you can't handle things like this, without shooting somebody, stay home.

Like George Zimmerman, the ex-cop was clearly looking for a confrontation. This wasn't his first incident at the movies.

He went to management with his complaint.

If he went looking for confrontation, I don't think that would have been his first response?

Yup typical behavior in the world today. People do rude and disrespectful things and expect people to just back down or take it. Their world is the only one that counts. Just like people on public transportation playing music real loud.

Maybe we can have theater employees walk down the aisles during previews or right when a main feature start and ask them to turn it off or maybe just maybe if the so called manager when asked by this old guy did his job and went and had the guy turn his phone off this never would have happened.

JORR brought up a good point earlier in the thread . If this were some 6'4 260 lb big black stud , you think it gets to the point to where he gets popcorn thrown in his face? Probably not right? So it sort of speaks to who had at least some responsibility in the escalation and who was looking for a confrontation.

Clearly he was. After he left his seat to complain about the texter, why didn't he just go sit somewhere else? Why did he go right back to sit by the guy? Because, he felt like a tough guy with his gun.

This was a Monday matinee. I have a hard time believing that the theater was full.

Is it any different than the "thug" on the street shooting or stabbing someone for "disrespecting" them?

Or just have the ushers shoot them. Then we wouldn't have to waste 30 seconds on that cell phone screen shot ad.

He went through the proper channels originally to try and get management resolve his issue.

That does not appear to be the actions of a person "looking" for a confrontation.

Nobody is saying that throwing popcorn at the cop was the right thing to do.

Did I mistakenly ever defend street shootings?

A beacon of peace? No.

A guy that tries to avoid a confrontation does not have the appearances of a guy hell bent on having one.

I'm not so quick to agree - not because it's JORR's point btw - but because if it was crazy old man vs. 6'4" 260lb big black stud* I'm not entirely convinced crazy old man says diddly shit and somehow manages to deal with the occular offense internally.

Nope I was just pointing out how far our society is falling when an elderly retired former peace officer is acting like a common street thug and e is not even in Chicago. Like I said if the fucking managers interviened instead of pooh pooing an old man this never would have happened.
