Texting in a theater is objectionable to many, many people. Thankfully most of them aren't willing to shoot someone because of it. But I don't think a person who is doing nothing at all wrong should have to cower or crawl away in the face of rude behavior. Most people will. That's what the dead guy was counting on.

If the worst part of your day was having to endure somebody sending a couple texts during the previews at the movie theater, then I would say that life is pretty good. We all have to deal with things that suck when we go about our daily lives. People cut you off in traffic. People go through the express lines at the grocery store with a full cart. People dress like savages on airplanes. If you can't handle things like this, without shooting somebody, stay home.

Like George Zimmerman, the ex-cop was clearly looking for a confrontation. This wasn't his first incident at the movies.

Yup typical behavior in the world today. People do rude and disrespectful things and expect people to just back down or take it. Their world is the only one that counts. Just like people on public transportation playing music real loud.

Maybe we can have theater employees walk down the aisles during previews or right when a main feature start and ask them to turn it off or maybe just maybe if the so called manager when asked by this old guy did his job and went and had the guy turn his phone off this never would have happened.

JORR brought up a good point earlier in the thread . If this were some 6'4 260 lb big black stud , you think it gets to the point to where he gets popcorn thrown in his face? Probably not right? So it sort of speaks to who had at least some responsibility in the escalation and who was looking for a confrontation.

Clearly he was. After he left his seat to complain about the texter, why didn't he just go sit somewhere else? Why did he go right back to sit by the guy? Because, he felt like a tough guy with his gun.

This was a Monday matinee. I have a hard time believing that the theater was full.
