I used to like his songs. They don't have staying power to me. If I hear one on the radio, I know it, listen for a couple seconds, then flip the station.

Going to be glorious to see Billy Joel on 7-18 and to know that the First PLace Cubs are finally making Theo's vision a reality.

99% sure this is Pitchfork weekend. Billy loses.

Billy's love songs are the best, and the one's he writes for his daughter are moving. He's got some disco-era stuff I could do without.

Like any artist with a 40 yea plus career there's going to be a lot of dreck in their catalogue and true he hasn't been relevant in 20 years. That said he could've stopped making music after 52nd Street and he'd still be better than 99.99 % of musical acts since then. His concerts are fun fairly high energy affairs, puts on a good show and doesn't cheat the audiences. I'll always be a fan .

I have seen him several times in concert and would agree with Rogue. Puts on a fun show.

He also is pretty good for giving you one obscure song that you are either really pumped up to hear live or could care less about and can take a quick piss.

Every good artists needs to understand how valuable this is when creating a set list.

Billy has some good background knowledge on why this is so important.

Those acts are good music but they were peak popularity was 30 years ago. Just switch it up I guess.

big fan of Billy Joel. I went to see him last time at Wrigley. I had an awkward moment of running into my bookie at the concert and having to introduce him to my wife.

honest to goodness, I heard about this event on the train on the way to work before this thread was started. I thought to myself, under what circumstances would I go to this. I thought IF:
They sent a limo to my house
I was escorted by security to the front row
Escorted out and driven home after the show
all for free.

Then I would go, just to see the nuts and bolts of putting on one of these big shows. The lighting, the perfomer's interactions, etc.
I would bring my NASCAR ear protection so I wouldn't have to listen to it.
