The way that Frank hit Lau style and had that mentioned eye he would have accidentally hit 75 if he was juiced. You people remember how many of his homers were opposite field contact off of mistakes?

Lots of ridiculously powerful opposite field home runs was proof that he wasn't juicing?

GlenAllen Hill hit a few on the rooftops. Strong guy.

Rick, your reasons are not any more valid The the Auburn stuff

We already know for a fact players have been pro testing and still using, so that's out

And career arcs and he was always big are not valid either

It was said a million times that users ruined it for everyone in the era.

Not sure why some think Frank or anyone else is immune
So, you think Frank probably used steroids?

I don't know. My guesses in the past were wrong. I thought A Rod was clean.

Gun to my head, I'd guess Frank probably used some banned substances but was probably not steroids

That's the other thing that makes this so messy. These substances may have been illegal but they weren't specifically banned by MLB. In fact, MLB had a vested interest in guys juicing up and the game became more popular than ever. That's why, as vile as A-Rod is, I find it difficult to root for Bud Selig against him. Selig acts like Dum Dum Daley. He knew nothing. If he really didn't know, he's too damn dumb for the job. But of course he knew. And like all of them, he looked the other way as Sammy and Mark "saved" baseball.

Ya he goes hard on universally hated players like Bonds and ARod. He's a far nicer guy with David Ortiz

Bayless is a whore. Simple as that. Frank shouldn't worry about that worthless prostitute. He achieved things on talent, Bayless achieved things by whoring himself out to the public. He's in his 60's and still doing the same fucking schtick. I can only assume he'll die a pathetic lonely old man if this is what his professional career entails. Frank is human, that is obvious. He acted pathetic and immature at times but that was when he was young. He has grown up, matured if you will. He should be impressed with his own progress.

Looks like the line is also drawn on Greg Maddux.

Good. Add another one to the Frank was probably dirty side of the argument. I like that much more than the "Well anyone could have done them" stance.

I just find it interesting you guys are so confident about him being dirty.

Youre completely off your rocker with this issue.

That answer I gave was the opposite of confident.

And dont say I go to extremes saying he might have done them when you reply he might be a Russian spy

Everyone in the era is suspect. Not sure why thats so difficult for you to accept

What would you call it? You think it's likely he used some sort of PED. That sounds pretty confident to me. I mean, when you accuse someone of being a liar and a cheater, shouldn't you think you are right?
rogers park bryan wrote:

That is taking it out of context. You very quickly went to "Everyone who says they are are clean was obviously clean". That's irrational. The Russian spy thing is simply a way to illustrate the fact that it's almost impossible to prove a negative.
rogers park bryan wrote:

This is the problem. There is a huge difference between "He probably did something" and "Everyone in the era is suspect".

Maybe this will help. Maybe it's just an issue with word usage.

probably
almost certainly; as far as one knows or can tell.

Frank Thomas almost certainly used steroids or other PED's. Do you believe this is true or false?

For the record, I think that statement is false.

You are really being strange about this.

Somebody says something with hardly any confidence, just a hunch - and you beg and beg and beg them to be more confident about their stance.

Then you hit them with "I just find it interesting you guys are so confident about him being dirty".

WTF?

Multiple people are saying he probably(as in almost certainly) used steroids.

You can't say someone probably did something without having a good amount of confidence in it. It doesn't make sense.

I just asked a question. I didn't beg anyone to be more confident. The answer of "Do you think Frank probably did steroids?" is pretty straight forward that you are confident he did. That's why I went as far as posting the definition.

I really don't know what to say now. It seems like we are now arguing the definition of one of the more straight forward words around. I mean, it literally comes from "probable" which doesn't mean "easy to believe" but is an actual measure of how correct it likely is.

I am 100% confident with no reservations whatsoever that Frank Thomas was a 'roided up superfreak.

I do. Always have.

It comforts me to know that Frank Thomas really ruined baseball, not Sammy Sosa. Frank probably taught Sammy how to use them. I believe that almost certainly happened.

There. That should save us a couple hours today.

Baseball was clean until Frank played SEC football.
