Wouldnt go if it was 2016, if they won a World Series or any other reason.

Snuck in one year.

Its long long line for autographs and they used to have a ton of vendor booths. per Danny Ecker, the Booths are 50% of what they used to be.

Really a huge waste of money and time.

Yea I know. Kind of a joke thread.

That's why it would be nice to see some real fans show up and start booing Ricketts for his tight ass debt ridden bullshit.

Maybe a bigger hit would be a "Angry Cub Fan Convention". A place to meet where meatball Cub fans can go to vent. We can have a t-shirt booth, dunk tank with a Ricketts look-a-like. Invite infamous Cubs like Candy Maldonado,Phil Bradley,Augi Ojeda, etc.

That would garner lots of interest and publicity.

All team fan conventions suck. Fans have been suckered. It is a promotional vehicle for the team. THEY should be paying US to attend.

The image above is exactly what Ricketts & Theo want to see. 5000 grandma's drinking Cub Koolaid would be fine with them.

Gordon Wittenmyer ‏@GDubCub 23 mins Theo says "hopeful" Cubs get new clubhouse and batting tunnel at Wrigley next winter. Not happening now.

What a fucking joke. Can you imagine Mark Cuban being 5 years into his ownership tenure and still not have a new clubhouse and a batting cage for his players?

I hope someone booed like crazy when hearing this lame ass shit...

Yea I have to agree on this. I was never a big Cuban as owner guy but this would have either been underway or he would have packed up and moved. I am very disappointed in Lil' Tommy.

I would love to see what Cuban would be able to do as owner of the Cubs.

But let's not make him into more than what he is. He would not be able to just magically make all the obstacles for the Cubs disappear. There would still be a lot of red tape and political BS to work through.

I am not exactly happy with how Ricketts has done since being owner, but I think it is naive to assume Cuban would be doing a lot better.

This is what I like to think the difference with Cuban would have been. Encountered the upfront BS with the city/bar owners/rooftop owners and tells them "here's what I'm doing, are you in?" And if not, he would have taken proposals from other burbs and left.

Tommy seems way to eager to try and please everyone.

Just my opinion.

It is unreal to realize this is Chicago and we are stuck with an ownership group like this. Yea they are dedicated to building the minor leagues, they've hired well at the executive level (Theo et al) but that fact is they are debt ridden tight ass puppets and the creditors and Papa Joe Rickletts are pulling the strings to a large degree.

Sad.

This sounds easy while posting on a messageboard, but much harder in real life situations.

I am not completely disagreeing with you guys, but just think we need to see the big picture too.

The Cubs have by far the worst facilities in baseball.

the first thing Cuban would have done is provide state of the art modern facilities for his players.

Not Ricketts 5 years later...

You have no idea if Cuban would be able to get that done right out of the gate.

Again, easier said than done.

Putting in a batting cage, a real exercise room for the players and a real clubhouse DO NOT require approval from the city.

Negotiating 101 says utilize leverage.

By stating we want to stay at Wrigley but this is a business and we need revenue to compete and win a World Series so if we can't work out a deal in a realistic timeframe, we are going to the suburbs, is how most business people would play it. You then start getting bids, etc.

Kind of basic negotiating, a.k.a. Big Boy Business.

No, lol

I like Kerry, he is a good guy, still has plenty of redneck in him. But, dont need to drop $25 drinks for the "wood family foundation". They can drop my $25 for me.

Have kind of givin him shit for it in the past and his bowling tourney, said 'Why dont you do something more people can participate in" and gave him kudos on Wiffle ball tourney. That I think has some legs and he needs to focus on that. He is now a Suburban guy. Built a house in Winnetka. So, not seeing him the Little league coaching ranks this year

Some ESPN writer made a plaque like this for Mark Prior and how he thought his career would have gone.

It was like 6 Cy Young's, 300 Wins, and two World Series a piece for Cubs and Yankees

From what I've read, the Ricketts ownership segment was reduced from 1 hour to 45 minutes.

Ball-less fucks!

Dont know about that. Havent been to a FFL Expo, but I actually think it might be more fun.

The Creepy factor at the Cubs or Bear convention is really weird too. Mac had it right, kinda Trekky! I would assume the Sox would be that way, but they only get like 200 people, so its not as strange.

But walking through the lobby on the Hotel and seeing 95% of the people in Cubs jerseys, especially at night made it really strange. They dont really have anything to do at night, thus they all walk around still looking for Santo!
