This is Blizzard’s next game. It’s a World of Warcraft online CCG that’s Free2Play and is in Beta right now. I played a few hands last night and I was pretty impressed. Very simple to learn and the games are quick (about 10-15 min tops) so if you lose you don’t feel like you just wasted a bunch of time. And I think they have the F2P model down right for this one. You can buy extra booster cards with real money – about $2 a pack of 5 with one guaranteed rare, or you can buy with in game gold you get when you win matches, complete daily quests (ie win 5 games as a rogue), or win arena matches. You can also disenchant cards you have multiples of and then craft cards you want, including epic and legendary cards. So no card is unattainable (Black Lotus) which is a good concept.

You start by picking your hero from one of the Nine classes (all but Death Knight and Monk) and you can either use the starter deck provided or build your own. Decks are 30 cards and you can’t have more than two of the same card in the deck. You hero has 30 HP and the win condition is getting your opponent’s hero to 0 HP. You get mana each turn that corresponds to the round, for instance round 1 you only have 1 mana to spend, round two you have two, etc… Games never got past round 10 for me and were usually over by round 8.

Overall I really liked it and can see this being a huge addiction, especially being F2P. Can play on PC or iPad and they say they are working on Android version. Not sure of release date yet but a new wave of beta invites are going out so if you have a Battle.net account you can sign up to try and get one.

Lucked out and signed out for the beta a week ago or so and got in on the last round of invites for the closed beta.

This game really is crack, and it's the sort of thing you can get many games in without committing to a multi-hour gaming session...if you have the discipline to pull yourself away.

Is this why you won't be at the Bulls game?

Every time I find myself playing Borderlands, XCOM, or Final Fantasy for three hours straight, I can always say: "At least I'm not playing a World of Warcraft online card game."

Wife was busy on the TV with the PS4 so I downloaded and played it a bit yesterday. Only played about 15 minutes but will fire it up again as I'm sure it will get more interesting. Don't think I even got to choose my hero or whatever yet.

The opening quests have you playing as a Mage...once you get through those, you can play against the AI or online and whenever you beat another class, you unlock it.

It is quickly addicting. Its tempting to buy a bunch of packs right away but I would play Arena as much as possible. You get a pack of cards every run plus additional prizes depending how well you do. Plus it lets you see a wide range of cards and come up with combos you wouldn't see or play in constructed. It will help your overall game in the long run.

Bump.

Gave it a spin last night. Better late than never?

This delights me.

lipidquadcab #1507...I'm usually only on once or twice a week but I could see it making a strong comeback if I ever get too bored with Destiny.

Sent ... I think ... anyway, my computer is no peach but it's certainly adequate for my non-gaming useage ... but it really doesn't run Heathstone for shit ... which I wouldn't have thought would've been an issue ... ideas? thoughts? pointing and laughing?

No friend request yet...try again?

As for the game running better, only suggestion would be going into the game options (click the gear looking button in the bottom right) and setting the game quality to medium or low.

Tried again ... only had success with jackref (I think) being the one to find me ... DonTiny #1213 just in case ... have no idea why adding people, for me anyway, is so flummoxing.

Trying to get myself more into the game ... it's not bad at all ... it's not the game, it's me probably.

It's really too bad the Arena draft is prohibitively costly ... way the hell back in the day, I generally had much greater success with drafts over constructed M:tG. Otherwise I'd probably play the ever-lovin' shit out of that game mode.
