Hey, Mr Pompous, I Broadcast Single A baseball games. let a caller talk!

You had a caller who said he is a retired Major league scout and you basically hung up on the guy when he started talking about scouting and how it has changed so you can MAKE up some hearsay about a scouting report you think might exist on Tanaka but dont know shit about.

Time for the Score to oust this guy. if he wants to be a broadcaster, go broadcast, if you are going to be a sportstalk host, and you're talking about baseball when a guy calls in and probably knows more about the game than you might ever, let him talk.

Or was it that he sounded like he might know more.

but now you are talking about the fact the Cubs "Could" still leave Wrigley and move to Rosemont. Timely ! and Stupid!

Wow. The voice sounds great, the ideas are about as hollow as a special Sammy Sosa bat.

 Yeah I just heard that call. He got rid of him pretty quick.

So he can go talk to the brother on the southside about Ricketts should screw the rooftops and move to Rosemont! Great call to go to!

The Home Of The White Sox must think that if you say it enough, it might come true.

Well he better work on his talk show skills because he isn't making it to Wrigley in the announcers booth. They have a hell of an announcer in AA right now, Mick Gillespie who works with Len during the spring I think.

I'm disappointed that Randazzo seems like such a douche. His updates were a nice change of pace from the stumbling, trying-to-be-funny-but-falling-flat cavalcade of awful they usually trot out, and I thought he might be a good host.

Just what the Score needs, another unlikable host.

This wasnt about the Sox, it was about a guy who didnt want someone telling him anything.

Randazzo seems to love his own voice and likes taking calls from himself

Damn, right on the money with this one. I didn't know he was a Bernsy wannabe clone too. I heard that shit and even before then I was thinking, man this guy is a real jackass.

Someone comes on the air and can actually verify they are smarter than a host and "click"

That's right. And even though WSCR is the Sox flagship station, the vast majority of on-air staff- including Randozzo- is made up of Cub fans. The only real Sox fans at the station are Herb, Larry, and Mully.

Can't argue the DB claim if all went down as said, but I do think Randazzo could easily become one of the better, substantive hosts on WSCR if he were given an opportunity.

really dont think so. Limited in his scope of knowledge. Seems to play the role of expert on everything, but when I know more about the Hawks than a host, that host should just shut up and move on to his next topic, as I claim to have little Hawks knowledge.

He could be your next chip Caray. Stiff house man announcing games and do nothing else.

I heard the same half hour or so and thought the exact same thing. You know nothing about Tanaka. Almost no one else does. There is no shame in admitting it. However, there are a lot of people in the industry on tv and radio faking the same knowledge. They have never seen him. All they have done is read some reports produced by people who never scouted him either.

Then the Wrigley stuff almost gave me incentive to call in. Randazzo actually had the balls to say the Score and its hosts are there to educate us...meanwhile his analysis was sorely lacking in any sophistication with the topic. His analysis pretty much broke down to "I don't know why the city and neighborhood doesn't give them everything they want."

yeah i'm gonna cosign this as my thoughts here, cuz i've largely been a part of the randazzo ALS over the last year or two here. he actually isn't a bernstein clone because the fundamental makeup of his shows, at least the stuff i've heard, is that he seems to welcome more thoughtful/intelligent thoughts via text/call-screening whereas the bernstein paradigm seeks out the disagreeing/"stupid" listener to provide a perch for bernstein to condescend down to "the idiots" from. as for intelligent thoughts, he only allows them if they're 100% in-lockstep/ass-kissing/i-gotta-say-that-you're-right-dan stuff, as the default position is that anyone who isn't in 100%-complete-lockstep with dan is a complete idiot and totally wrong because "THERE IS NO ARGUMENT HERE!" ---- so i've always found randazzo to be a breath of fresh air because the guy wasn't produced on the post-bernstein score host assembly line and therefore whatever similarities between the two exist only exist because they're both inherently cocksure from their intelligence making them stand out in society.

so maybe wayne specifically had a competitive bug up his ass with this guy, or even worse, maybe the post-bernstein paradigm is creeping into him more and more with every additional shift he covers at the score. at the very least haterade-aside i can say that hearing him on this last sunday-midday shift was no less than 500% better than hearing another one of those marathon finfer-solo "radio siberia" shows.

They are here to inform us, not "educate" us. They aren't experts, they aren't even information gatherers or researchers, they are merely the conduits for information much of which is already prepared and processed for them to dissimenate. Ownership gives them incentives or inducements to speak positively about who/what they are, and whereas sports radio (particularly WSCR) was once "maverick" in their approach as a media entity they are now owned and in the corporate fold lock, stock, and barrel. Hence the lack of understanding of why the Wrigley neighborhood and city in general aren't willing to acquiesce to every Cubs/Ricketts desire is pathetically simple but banally questioned.
