Did not like how Roderick ended, lame way out.
I still say Jacob offs Emma and is the only one of the major cult players that lives.
Told you guys this was a one season story arc.
I agree Pulfory is killing it. I take back my Emmy nomination for Emma, she has faded quick.

The writing of the secondary characters like Emma and Jacob has been really uneven the last few weeks.

Now Jacob is done and Emma is back to being the hardened killer she was for most of the season.

How Joe hasn't bled out yet is a wonder, but that's tv.

Parker is in some trouble and next week's finale looks pretty good.

i wonder how they wrap it up and set up season 2.

Before last night I said there are only 2 ways this could end with leaving something unanswered going into next season. Either Joe still remains on the loose, or Ryan ends up getting hurt.

After last night the 3rd possibility is that Parker could still end up in trouble.

What if Joe escapes with Parker as his hostage? Then Parker basically takes Claires spot longterm as his hostage and the search for them is the main theme next season. Will she get sucked into the cult? She has a past that includes a similar upbringing, so flashbacks of experiences there (besides those already used) could be interwoven. Just a possibility...

The producers intimated this story will end next week.

Maybe Ryan finally breaks and takes Joe's place.

That's a tasty thought....Ryan has already said that he's already dead.

Maybe Kevin Bacon wanted to do the series with the knowledge it would only be a single season. He's a well established actor and I was surprised to see him doing a TV series. But I hope you are wrong, because I have enjoyed the series. That said, with all the crap that took place in Boston, maybe television doesn't need to be giving whack jobs any ideas.

Ryan rescues Parker, kills Joe, saves Claire, and is going to get his happy ending.

He moves in with Claire and she and Joey go to his apartment to help him move his things.

Molly shows up and closes the door.

Ryan comes back to find Claire and Joey dead. He kills Molly and is broken. He is sent to prison and he becomes Joe.

THE FOLLOWING Season 2 Will Continue Joe’s Master Plan In A ‘Smart’ Way, Hints Natalie Zea
MARCH 28, 2013 BY ROCO

Natalie Zea has teased The Following‘s first-season finale and confirms that events will impact already-ordered second season in a “smart way”.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress, who plays Claire Matthews on the Fox serial killer show, said that the final two episodes of the season will toe the line between closure and continuation:

“There will be more questions. It feels as though there is some closure … and then there isn’t.”

While the finale is still a month away, Zea is in the loop and knows how it impacts the second season, calling it a “smart” way to continue the story. “I think it’s going in the right direction, so I’m curious and excited to see,” she adds.

Originally there were some concerns as to how the show would unspool beyond one season, but the gradual emergence of Joe Carroll’s ‘bigger plan‘ has given the story greater continuation legs.

That makes sense to me. As long as Bacon is willing to continue on TV, I have to believe the series has legs. Where did you get the idea the series was gonna end?

I didn't mean the series would end. I meant this chapter wouldn't continue into next season.

I totally agree with you TP... I think whatever they try to do for another season of this will probably feel a little hackey... The guy only has so many people in his cult... it's already pushing the borders of ridiculous to think there are 30 people... now are there going to be 30 more that were on the back burner the whole time? I'm just not confident in it, but willing to eat my words.

I find the show to be OK. But a lot of it requires abandoning the idea of common sense.

Man I forgot all about that crazy broad. You're right...she will have to have some sort of impact on the second season.

Hey there, fella!

The Cult (not the band with Matt Sorum providing a ripping yet stable and consistent beat) haven't done their MAIN QUEST, yet. All the bombs, guns, underground hiding places, bunkers, cells etc etc etc is still out there, for the most part. Whatever Capt. Crazy is doing now is simply for pull it all back from the brink, finish his book, kill/reborn/whatever Ryan Hardy and continue on.

I think Joe has to die and there has to be some movement towards a new messiah for the cult.

I want crazy Ryan to be ThatGuy.

Unfortunately it'll probably be Molly as the central villain next year. Hope I'm wrong.

Agree with the first part, but I think that is going to be Emma.

If it was Ryan, who would be the "good guy." Weston?

Parker, Watson, someone else? I don't know.

Frank is right.
Emma is the only cult member, other than Molly, that has a name that we know.
I think Molly will play a big part at the very end next week because Ryan totally knows nothing about her involvement with the cult.
There is no way that Ryan, Annie or Mike are going to flip over to the other side and they can't introduce a new major character in the season's final episode.
My guess is that Molly attacks Ryan and leaves him in critical condition, providing a cliffhanger, and Emma returns as the cult's head next season.

No- I don't think Emma has the ability to carry that role. Somehow Joe may be caught and return to jail, but his followers will still be out there carrying on. I don't see them killing Joe off though. Either he escapes capture or returns to jail.

I'm still not 100% convinced Joe is dead either.

As soon as Ryan said, "I'm gonna take her back to my place" I knew at least one of the 2 of them was getting stabbed.

Without Joe's body positively found, I'm sure he returns next season as will Claire and Ryan. Emma will have to take on a bigger role in season 2. Speaking of Emma...Where was Emma and the guy who jumped Ryan at the lighthouse and tied him up at the end? Things get hairy and they are gone?

Love this show. Great finale. One of best combinations in awhile for me between Bones and the Following. Consistently excellent 2 hours of tv every week.

This started up again last night.

I have a cold and was not feeling well at all, so I pretty much went to bed right after the NFC game. DVR'd this and will watch it tonite. From the couple previews that kept showing, its very clear that Joe Caroll did not die in the explosion/fire at the end of last season. I still think Emma is going to play a major part in the killings this season.

Anybody still watching? Seems like more of the same from last season. I dont know if I can watch the FBI continue to trip over their dicks and get outsmarted by failed English majors for another season...

All this time I thought video game and TV made killer youth. Now, I find out that reading can be even more deadly. What is a parent to do?

I think a parent should avoid running a brothel in their home and taking in escaped serial killers. That ended poorly...
