i just dont get it. how do you NOT put half away for savings? especially during the worst depression this country has ever seen, and right after the iverson story went viral???!!!! at least iverson had a REALLY smart friend... or uncle or whatever that stashed 50mil away where he cant touch it until 55!

You need to have good people close to you. A lot of people rich and poor do not.

In Southern Indiana its really tough! He can buy a 20,000 SF house and 500 acres for about $2 M

His $2M in Malibu gets him this

if i was spending money like there's no tomorrow and living the high life, not sure i'd be frequenting Cheesecake Factory and TGI FRidays

how the hell can you spend that much at those places anyways ? if the place was at max capacity and he paid for everyone in the restaurants bill i'm not sure it would get to 5K . do they even carry top shelf liquor at TGI Fridays ?

Give 5 Million dollars to a trusted person or entity not to be touched for ten years

Spend like it's going out of style.

All set.

I always said that if I ever won the lottery or otherwise came into a large sum of money, the first thing I would do would be to hire a financial planner and a lawer to help me out.

The second thing I would do would be to hire a second lawer to watch the planner and first lawer.

But yeah, Arps is correct. I mean, even if he just took $1million and invested it at a 10% return, he's making $100K a year. Might not be able to drop $4000 at TGIFridays every week, but he could still live comfortably on that.

I wonder why the players association has stepped in to all but force something like this where some of the pay over $1 million is automatically put into an annuity that is paid out over the 20 years after retirement. Maybe something forced like that isn't legal.

10% isnt something you can count on in our current climate though.

That's why I chose a sum that would be fine without any interest or gain.

Id give it to my brother. I trust him and he's cheaper than George Hallas

You know what I mean. 6% would still be 60K, which is a lot more than most people live in per year, plus you'd have the initial million you invested.

$5000 at the Cheesecake factory. I can't even fathom that unless his tab was covering 100 people.

$600 shots of Remy can add up. Trust me.

Even 6% is nothing to count on. Since there's no savings interest anymore you cant just assume even moderate growth anymore.

We agree anyway.

He could find a charge card that gives him 6% rewards or points and use that for his Remy shots.

He should save his receipts from Friday's, and write it off.
