RPB will love this thread.

Watching it now out of...no reason at all. Just one of the best films of all times. And for those who ARE parents, I'm sure you'll agree. I'll never know. But it's a great, great film.

I never saw the whole movie but I do enjoy the TV show which deals pretty well with real life topics though some of it is "tv life",too.

Couple of things stick out. Steve Martin saying Women have options and Men have responsibilities. Also, first movie I decided I would slam the shit out of Mary Steenburgen.

If my husband wanted to leave me right now, he has a better career, more money, and is better looking. I'm old, have 2 kids, and no job. He has way more options.

Yeah but the quote from the movie was that he has responsibilities so he is trapped. A woman can do whatever she wants. Have abortions or just pick up and leave and take his kids and half his shit.

It's currently on HBO Go

Just a perfect film.

Every role was crushed by the actor. Martin, Robard, Clint fucking Howard.

Its a top notch film and Steve Martin is great. I share a lot of the same concerns as Martin's character. Trying to be a better father than mine, and yet, the harder I try, the more I feel that I am failing at it. I spent all day today working on a side project because I want to make some extra money to store for the kid's college, yet in the short term the kid feels like I ignored her all day. I'm struggling with getting her to care about practicing and competing. She is either scared of me or afraid of failing, so she tunes me out when I try to teach her things. The one good thing is that even though she is the worst kid out there playing soccer, she still enjoys it and wants to go back every week.

If she's so brilliant why is she sitting in our neighbor's car?

Her Orton hatred caused that to be revoked.

You're over thinking it but you care and are thinking about these things which is half the battle

And my parents were always around but had almost zero work ethic. Don't underestimate a kids ability to appreciate how hard you work. Its hard when they're young but shell understand more as she gets older
