Oh yeah, I heard both of those as well. On the Red Kerr one, I think I even emailed Dan and said "you guys better check that 9:30 update" or whenever it was in the day.

I remember I was walking to court in river north for the Ozzie-North thing. It was a beautiful day so I thought I would walk it and listen to my Walkman.

The switch to 670 was a classic moment not really because of what was said but it kind of legitimized the Score. Stan from Bellwood was chosen as the voice that made the switch. I was sitting in my car in the parking lot at school because I wanted to hear the moment.

North "would you shave your head to beat the Bulls" was at a press conference, so not live on the Score. Still, the fall out was at the station and was a great day. This was back when the sportswriters didn't consider sports talk radio to be a legitimate medium.

North and Jiggetts arguing over the Alonzo Spellman incident when he was running down the street shirtless (Jiggs he's Wacko!)

Murph vs Mulligan

Mulligan vs Boers (Boers called guys who liked Soccer gay and Mulligan took offense to that)

Billy Packer vs Boers and Bernstein

Larry Horse call

Rusty from Stickney

Joe in Evanston

Antonio Davis' wife Kendra calling B&B a few days after Antonio jumped in the stands to fight off Axelrod's kid.

Had the radio on and but was napping during the Jay Cutler trade. Woke up a few minutes later after hearing Bernstein's elation.

Not on the Score but I also heard the Harry vs Mac argument when Harry told Mac to "Kiss his sac", followed by extended commercials and Carmen and Silvy taking over. Also heard Lunch with Legend with Dennis Rodman where he was cursing so much that they had to cut to National Program for the rest of the hour.

Does anyone remember when the White Sox won the World Series and the Score had a Blackhawks game on?

IIRC Bernstein was still a Bulls' reporter and PT/fill-in host at the time and someone (maybe the HFC) asked Bernstein about the incident and he didn't want to talk about it because he felt it was an embarrassment to the station.

Oh I heard "Steak Dinner Boom," too. Also, upon looking it up -- "steak dinner boom" is a google autofill after typing "steak dinner," btdubs -- there was another great part of that call: "you didn't let me finish, dickwad."

David Anderson is bigger than Michael Jordan- Bill Gleason

Gleason was not an arrogant guy but that was really demonstrative of the mindset of the print media at the time. I remember Bill saying that and knowing how things had passed him

I heard North say "I don't know who I'd rather have, him (Deron Williams) or LeBron".

I knew it was going to get replayed later by B&B in the afternoon.

I forget who was hosting but North called in one night to a show and mentioned, "he had a couple of cocktails".

pretty sure it was larry. it was like 10:30pm i think. i remember looking at my radio thinking "did he just really say that?" because as soon as larry answered the call mike admitted he was drivin his caddy down the freeway.

North vs. Shaer during HFC transition. For the life of me I cannot remember what prompted the fight, but Shaer made the mistake of calling in and North absolutely went street on him and all but called Shaer a frustrated nerd who understood nothing about actually playing sports.

I've always hated what he turned into. In '93 or so I went the Auto Show with the now wife. North was just getting off the air and struck up a conversation while in the beer line. Two beers later, the wife couldn't believe we hadn't known each other for years.

That Mike North was a happy go lucky, really funny guy.

and then all include him saying something stupid. Which is fine. I enjoyed it. Would be happy to have back on the Score saying stupid stuff.

Remember, he wanted a raise from his $1.5M contract to come back and say dumb stuff and he rejected the $725K (probably with bonuses)

So, there is nobody else to blame besides North

Then he eventually got paid well and tried to turn into something he wasn't.

He really was so unique and fun.

The guy had listeners over to his house as a promotion. He had another promotion where he would come to your house to broadcast. Can you imagine anything like that happening today?

There is one guy today who even remotely resembles that era of the Score and it is Dan Mc Neil.

I cannot figure out why one of these young fill ins doesn't take that populist approach that made North a star. Some may find it undignified but it worked and I promise you it would work again.

Which is interesting cause Bernstein wasn't such a dick when he first started out if I remember correctly.

Bernsie used to do fun weekend radio solo. He was still kind of a pud as a young reporter trying to be serious.

He wasn't. Not even close. He was a bit of a smug know-it-all and rubbed some people the wrong way, but his shows were nothing like that are now.

If you left town when he was still doing fill-in, weekend, and then weeknight shows and came back now you wouldn't think it was the same person. He started changing a little bit when B&B first started and it's progressed (or regressed) to what he is now. How much is radio schtick and how much is what he actually thinks I don't know. I used to think it was all schtick but more and more I think he's just a shitty person.

If you take stupid or contrarian stances on sports issues for the sake of generating calls, that's one thing, but IMO the "crusader for social justice when it's convenient" and the "call everyone a racist but say racist things myself" stuff is completely classless.
