Why don't they put it above the old scoreboard? Not blocking any rooftops. It could be temporary until you do get the go ahead to put it in left field. Better than having nothing for a year. The revenue for showing ads on it will be in the millions, right? Why lose that opportunity for this season?

That would require some extensive structural engineering and re-engineering of the current scoreboard.

Rip out the ivy, and put it there, and then when you want ivy, just show a picture of what the ivy used to look like.

I would actually say pull the last 10 rows out of the bleachers and set up a grilling area and just smoke those fuckers out every single game.

I don't get why people here are so contemptuous of the rooftop owners.

Tom R.: What are we going to do about the rooftop owners?

Theo E.: Buy them out and get this ball rolling toward a World Series.

Tom R.: Ah, yeah... sounds expensive. Anyone else?

Crane K.:OHHHH OVER HERE ME ME ME!!!
We could field a 100 loss team for a few years. No one will want to come watch that team and they will go bankrupt.

Tom R.: Brilliant!!!! Lets do it!!!

Theo E. No, it's idiotic. No one will go to the ballpark either you morons.

Tom R.: I didn't think of that.... :(

Crane K.:OHHHH OVER HERE ME ME ME!!!
(Clears his throat) We could hire a team mascot and call him Clark.

Tom R.: Brilliant!!!! Lets do it!!!

Theo E. :?

I just know this document is so ambiguous neither side feels comfortable using it to state their position.

I would love to see the cubs ask for the last 3 years of their books and they will be shit because the team sucked.

The cubs will make an offer based on their average net income for the last 3 years x next 11 years...so each rooftop gets $1-$2 Mill...

The rooftop will claim the cubs rebuilding effort has hampered their attendance. While they might be correct. TOUGH SHIT! Your income is your income.

Wouldn't touch the old scoreboard in my mind. I was thinking 3 or 4 beams rising up from the side walk to hold the video board that would be above and a little behind the old scoreboard. You could then put those pennants above the video board.

Low-flying aircraft would have to watch for those!

They should just use greenscreen technology on the outfield grass.

if the new york yankees can tear down yankee fucking stadium, the house that ruth built, the stadium that they won twenty-whatever championships in, and replace it there is no excuse for the cubs not ripping down that ancient scoreboard and putting up the most state-of-the-art video screen scoreboard in MLB out there. im mean really, WTF. that old scoreboard fucking sucks. the whole stadium sucks other than the location and the view of the neighborhood outside the park, and the ivy and all that. that can all stay. the ambience is nice. but the ambience would be better with a nicer new comfortable ballpark. i think the outrage in pittsburgh went away when they ripped down forbes field, and cincinnati survived the loss of crosley field. Detroit seems to have gotten over the loss of tiger stadium. all of those places were shitholes and got knocked down for a reason. for some reason the cubs organization and certain cubs fans continue to martyr themselves for an obsolete park that every other city in the US except boston would have knocked down 25 years ago or more. enough with the rooftop owners and all that shit. either tear it down and rebuild or get the fuck out and move somewhere else where you can do what you want. people will come if you field a decent team.

I have a question: Why can't the Cubs NOT put a sign there, but have one of those "special FX" signs that can only be seen by the TV viewer like they use behind home plate.

The sign behind home plate is actually there in real life. It's just green.
I think the rooftops will be upset about any sign blocking their view, no matter what color it is.

It's a green screen with advertising thrown on there but not visible to those at the park?

Yeah, real nice. I'm the big mouth Cub fan who hasn't been to the park in some time.
