bernstein has gotta be in the CSFMB Sports Radio hall of fame, which is not to be confused with the CSTRCHOF (the chicago sports talk radio caller Hall of fame, which features such luminaries as THE GRIDIRON ASSASSIN (in fact i think he has his own wing which is just a blank room), Elmhurst Steve (another patron with a wing dedicated to his brand) and of course TFM, COF, jalen from rosemont, myron from his cubicle, and schmutzie_ (representing the dan bernstein ALS wing front and center)
but yeah, while bernstein doesn't go as oldschool as the guys who are getting lots of votes (NORT, mcnail, chet(?) and others who were there for day 1.... there's no doubt in my mind that over the last ~5+ years bernstein has singlehandedly had the biggest effect on what you hear on the airwaves since then, and as such his influence on the current gen of the score (~66-75% bernstein clones) has to make him worthy of a CSFMB Sports Radio HOF position.
NORT is a no brainer, cuz love him or hate him, faded or otherwise (ahhh yes i miss the days when i'd go to
www.dontfademe.com to come to the site here. man i'd kill for one of those t-shirts new/ish i a XXL/XXXL) and obviously mcneil goes back to day 1 with the HFC and with his time starting up another institution of a show up the dial in mouseland you can't discount his contributions to the passing scene.
i think terry boers deserves more votes than the 7 he's tied with bernstein with, cuz lest we forget that terry is another OG guy going back to day one, and he was always the zany sidekick on the HFC to mcneil's "straight man" and his "bad, weird, gay" levity has gone a long way in helping to set up not just one radio career (damaneel) but also the man, the myth, the legend we call FOTStein. so while terry enters the twilight of his career experiencing a normal career arc that wuggests he isnt using PEDs to miraclously get top top career-best performance in his later years, there has to be some sort of recognition that he spans multiple shows as a veritable kingmaker because here in 2014 the two biggest guys on the score, bernstein and mcneil, got to where they are in large part thanks to having the levity that is terry boers alongside them. being able to do it with two different shows, even in his waning years (where ppl still occasionally point out some crazy comedic tangent terry went on and got bernstein into causing ppl to say THATS WHY I STILL LISTEN TO THIS OTHERWISE-PAINFUL SHOW) then yeah ,terry is bonafide HOF.
so when i get to voting after this post, if i get one vote while i know it should be for north, i'm going to give it fotsstein for providing the blueprint of how the contemporary post-CBSradio sports talk station should operate. he worked his way up through the ranks, paid his dues, did a fun/bad/gay show for the longest time with a sharper terry, then stood up and INNOVATED and EVOLVED the genre into whatever you wanna call chi sports talk radio now. i'm sure you can argue that he's just copying francesca or eskin or one of those blowhards tho effectively trolls the audience and gets them mad enough to call him up only so he can shoot them down and remind the vast majority of listeners why he's right..... but still, going forward into a supercorporate worrld (*CBS SPORTS RAAAAAAAADDDDIIIIOOOOOOOOO*) i think dan has laid the groundwork for what is to be expected for the next ~10+ years ,and as such he's had more of a direct impact because whatever NORT and mcneil and even boers did early on to set up the paradigms of chicago sports talk radio, FOTStein came in and changed that, adn his changes are far more proactive going forward.... and that'll nevercange. * pounds table * SHOMER SHABBOS! </walter sobchak>
