Almost finished with it. Not as good as Duff's book, but still really good.

Lot of good insights into Axl and all the band issues.

And his hatred for bands like Poison is hilarious  Funny to think he actually tried out for them. Imagine the rock world then.

This along with The Dirt and The Heroin Diaries are fucking top notch...

haven't read Duff's book yet, though. Would you come over, tuck me into bed and read it to me?

If you haven't read Duffs book then you need to find it immediately and read it.

Best book on anything music related that I have ever read.

No you're gay.

I love every rose has it thorn. If it's on the radio, I turn it up, and sing.

From Slash's point of view they represented a group of guys that were more interested in having the right hairspray and makeup instead of really being focused on music and performing. He says that when he interviewed for their band they were more interested in what he was going to wear on stage instead of how he could play guitar.

I like some of Poison's work, but they are not worth even mentioning in the same sentence with Guns N Roses. GnR was better at everything.

I have the Duff book but haven't read it yet. Slash's book was pretty good. Dave Mustaine's book was average. The Dirt and Heroin Diaries are both excellent.

however, the best music/band book I have ever read is Marilyn Manson's Long Hard Road out of Hell. It is AWESOME.
A very close second is Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidis. Totally worth the purchase or download.

Thanks for the recommendations doug, I want to check both those books out.

Be sure to check back in when you read Duff's book, I am interested in your opinion of it.

I was shocked at how good Duff's book was. I bought it on a whim, and it ended up being the best rock bio I've ever read. I'll second the praise for Scar Tissue. Excellent book. Mick Wall's bio of Metallica Enter Night is a good read as well.

I really enjoyed the Duff book. Finished it yesterday. Its on par with Manson's and Keidis' books. I read it in 15 minute increments over the past week or so. I never knew how connected he was to the Seattle scence which was pretty enlightening...or his abilities with guitar and drums. Very cool book even if you only cared about Appetite and Lies.

Now on to Dragons of the Hourglass Mage...

:D
