I guess Jerry Reinsdorf should just build a shit load of row house style town homes around the Cell.

All fucknut had to do was position the stadium so that the open part faced the skyline rather than the RT Homes previously and now nothing. He had his iconic backround possibility and blew it.

And I believe the reasoning given was he wanted to keep home plate at 35th and Shields.

Finfer and Levine had both sides on. Didn't listen but a nice recap above. This "battle" is so stupid. The way Ricketts and his army of SMART PEOPLE have handled this is such a shit show.

Would you ever consider moving? – Early on, there was some talk about leaving Wrigley Field, and there were interesting/flattering offers. But the Family wants to win at Clark and Addison. I can’t speak on behalf of the family, but how far after doing everything they’ve done to try and compromise, and after no public funding whatsoever, how much further can you be pushed? How far do you go before you say we tried, and it just isn’t going to work out? Hats off to the City and the Mayor, we got a great plan through. But from our perspective, we’ve done everything we can to move this thing forward. We’ll see what happens in the future.

That's the biggie right there.

The Blackhawks have done it by winning Championships, and the year before they won they at least made the conference finals.

Maybe the Cubs should actually be trying to win a playoff series.

didnt they lose for a bunch of years and tank so they could get Toews, Kaner and Sharpe?

perfect example, well done frank!

Ok after reading the whole thing I walk away thinking the rooftops are fucked, they know they're fucked, and this is their last gasp. The contract says the Cubs can expand and not give a fuck. They don't have the money for a long lawsuit. The value goes down every year util there finally is no contract. The guy kept repeating that a buyout would be a smart idea. They are trying to fire one last shot before the ship goes under at this point.

Heard some of the interviews this morning and Julian Green (of the Cubs) did leave open the possibility of moving. It is likely just a idle threat, but he certainly did not slam the door shut on the possibility.

The spokesman for the rooftops didn't really make a persuasive argument in my opinion. The only thing he brought up that bolstered his case was that the rooftops spent millions on upgrades and for compliance with fire codes, ADA, etc., expecting that their income stream would last for 20 years or more. But then again, they SHOULD have been required to meet building codes when they decided to erect these massive rooftop structures and turned them into commercial enterprises.

As some of you know the WRIGLEY ISSUES MEETING was postponed due to the cold Weather a week ago.

Since then I have got my usual Email Inbox full of Tunney 44th ward reports and requests....but nothing about when this meeting will be held.

So i sent the email asking when it is...and here is the response.

Thank you for your email. The meeting has not yet been rescheduled. As soon as we hear the date, from the Office of Emergency Management, we will publish the date.

Alderman Tunney's office
