First thought: I like it, but I don't love it...

...so is this just a single released for the cause or is this the unofficial first single of the new album?

Oh, and what about North Star...I've only heard the tiny bit that was played in the Transformers movie, so if they wanted to get that down on a album that would be great too.

Ok, U2 are a great band, but I'm not sure being the Vice-President of the Clash fan club and ripping off the guitarist from P.I.L. necessarily constitute Punk Rock roots.

Didn't the guitarist from Echo & the Bunnymen say the same thing about Edge? I found that documentary with Edge, Jack White and Jimmy Page to be fascinating.

I don't like them but really like some of their songs. The edge is kinda cute.

I was in your neighborhood today.

I was huge U2 fan. When they were the first band on the cover of Time magazine, I was thrilled. Talked about it with all my friends in Algebra the next day. Lol

Then they made Batman soundtracks and cared more about the video boards on their tour than the music. They lost me.

U2 from 1983-1991 (War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, Achtung Baby) is a run of greatness that few will touch. Even they can't.

I think this new album could be pretty good; it can't be worse than their last two albums. I guess they're kind of like The Simpsons at this point: to what extent do you let the bad years at the end ruin the years when they were on the top of their game and untouchable?
