Hope springs eternal. Even for us fans of "Tank" Ricketts North Side franchise.

Is it 2016 yet??

I've never understood why people give a fuck about the day they report. All that means is six weeks of uninspired stories of bums like Adam Dunn being in the best shape of his life.

Opening Day and the week or so leading up to it is another story.

I still get excited. For as much as the Cubs are my favorite sports team...I'm a fan of baseball. I don't need the Cubs to be amazing for Spring Training to be a 'thing.' I love following coverage of all thirty teams.

I guess since they moved the NFL draft back we can pay attention to baseball for a few weeks.

I've been there a few times. You could hit up Dollywood and make a whole weekend out of it!!!

Well said JORR.

I was going to head down for a week. 10 hour drive that way just sucks. driving downstate sucks. All flat farm land, no cool places to stop on I-57. I think there is pecan place I once stopped. Its not like WI, you can stop at Cheese places, fireworks, etc

Again NO

driving to places makes it an affordable, flexible option. Dont need to leave for Airport, or drop $300 a person to fly, then rent a car. 2 tanks of gas and 10 hours later I am there. Would prefer 5 hours and I am there. 5-6 hours in Wisconsin drive time limit about

I made it in 7.5 the week before Christmas.

It's a pretty drive thru TN too.

I would have assumed you thought your time was worth more... and that you were maybe too old for road trips. Once you reach a certain age, even La-Z-Boy Cadillac seats lack comfort over an extended period of time.

I've only ever been to Chattanooga. It has some scenic views...and hill people.

Oh boy is this great!
I can't wait until this season's 95 loss record is in the books.
SO neat!

I love baseball.

Sucks that my favorite team has had 10 bad decades in a row

But still, its the best game. Lots to look forward to. Even a few longshots on the Cubs

It is good to feel that way. Used to bust out of school and do opening day at Comiskey every year. Didn't matter that Ralph Garr and Chet Lemon weren't going to do it that year. It's a thing.

'77 was great. Those guys would be our equivalent to the '69 Cubs. Of course, they don't get as much play since the White Sox don't own the media. I still don't think I've had more fun during a baseball season, not even when they won the World Series.

We usually sat right behind the visitors dugout. There were always two maniacs, Basketball Bill and Bruce, who heckled the visiting team non-stop. I remember one game where Don Baylor had to be restrained from climbing into the stands to beat the shit out of Bruce. Don didn't want any part of Basketball Bill, who was as big as he was and had a slightly unhinged look about him.

There was a full service bar downstairs on the concourse right by our seats. I'd often go to games with my dad and his friend, Ron. By about the fifth inning my old man would be loaded and Ron would head down to buy what they called "Sissy Babies"- Peppermint Schnapps shots. Sometimes Ron would ask my dad, "Should I get one for the kid?" I was thirteen years old. My dad would reply, "No! His mother will kill me." Ron would come back with three shots anyway. Good times.
