Is it me or does Harry sound a little melancholy today? He also made mention about another big announcement in the near future and Dan cut it off at the pass.

On his way out?

How nice that would be, but I'm afraid he is just alluding to who will replace DP.

Boy. You lose one ratings book and immediately start doing the things that the other guys do...

Not a huge fan of a "best of" hour either.........only thing about 2:00 start for me, is winter time means I get 2 hours of show before the transmitter dies at 4:00

Following up on what Nas was saying- I don't really care for MJH, but I'll still usually tune in from 3-3:30 aftre listening to the first hour of B + B (when I listen to either, which I really only do when driving.) With the move back, I'm less inclined to switch over one hour into the show.

Then again, I'm not the target listener, so what do I know?

Best of shows usually turn into replays of interviews with players. These take up a 15 minute block of time and are easy to cut. Finji, you are going to have to prove me wrong for me to be a fan of this move.

Are they dropping "unplugged" then? I hope that is not what 5-6 is going to be.

I can't see how this will really work. Do they really think that there is that much quality in the four hours to have a one hour best of?
Finji, you'll have a LOT of time to fill on your own. Good luck, because the best of crap won't last long and maybe they will give you a show.

Make sure you include a lot of Harry and his un-natural love for Mark Grace, his own baseball knowledge and his famously unfunny jokes. That should make this arrogant program obsolete very quickly. They really think that a quarter of the show would qualify as a "best of"? Now that is funny.

And what do you on days that any of the Big 2 are off? You can't possibly fill a best of hour with Carm and Jurko highlights!

Maybe I misunderstood what they announced but I took this as more of an opportunity and audition for Finji than it really being a true "best of" hour where it's just replays. Mac thinks Finji has potential and is changing things up to give him this tryout under the guise of this best of. I'll bet there's a few 1 or 2 minute clips during this hour with Finji using that to go on his own and make his own talk show out of it. It will be more of a Finji show than a best of show though. Oh, and I really like this whole idea and change if that's what it is.

IIRC, Mac indicated in a recent post that "Unplugged's" goose would be cooked as one of the changes. I think 5 to 6 will be much like the first three hours.

As to the 6-7 business, I missed the announcement, so I don't know exactly what was specified, but it is true--as Mac has noted before--that radio ratings in Chicago slide heavily after 6:00, and are flatlining by 7:00. Business-wise, it doesn't matter much what they do. I do agree, though, that a best-of in radio is a bad idea. I'd rather they give Finji an hour to freewheel for six months, and hone his chops. He'd probably do it for an extra few grand. I'll listen in to see what it actually is.

i'm thinking Finji will eventually have a one hour show...

Good for me. I listen at work so I never really heard the 6 o'clock hour. This will help me avoid the uncomfortable situation that is enjoying B&B for an hour only to hear the words "Steve Stone Show".

I'm sure Mac will tell us that most people don't hear the first 4 hours of the show so this will help people catch up on some intereviews they want to hear. Personally, I don't listen for four hours a day, sometimes not at all, but I know I'd much rather listen to live talk than some random interviews that may or may not be of any importance.

I don't know about that BD, I stream all day from my pc, and when I travel to sites I have it on, and think about the people on the Board, a lot do not seem to have 9-5 at your desk jobs. There is real estate, sales, students, the unemployed, those working 2 jobs sending 136 resumes.... so likely there is more listernership between 5-7, but not dramatically so.
