Got back Saturday from our 11 day honeymoon at Le Blanc and was absolutely blown away. I knew it was gonna be great since its the #1 rated hotel in Cancun on TripAdvisor and also rated as the #3 all inclusive in the world, but I assumed it wouldn't live up to the hype. Boy was I wrong.

The service and food were unbelievable. I figured with an all inclusive they would cut some corners in those departments, but that was not the case. You couldn't go 2 minutes at the pool or the bar or lounge or just hanging out without someone coming by to ask you if you wanted a drink. There were 5 restaurants and all were great. Didn't like having to wear pants to dinner every night, but I soldiered on and dealt with it. They had an upscale italian place, a french place, an asian place, a less formal place that had upscale mexican and steakhouse plus there was a nice pizza place, not to mention poolside food and 24 hour room service that would show up 20 minutes after you ordered no matter what.

Hanging by the infinity pool was a great way to spend the day. Twice a day a waiter would jump into the pool with a surfboard loaded up with the drink of the day and pass them out to everyone in the pool. A few times a day the butlers (yes, every room had a butler) would walk around with ice cream and popcicles. Every day at lunch they would make something poolside that wasn't on the menu like a huge grilled grouper that they would then make tostadas with.

The Spa is world class, but we're not spa people so instead we opted for unlimited free golf during our stay at two Jack Nicholas courses that were both really nice and all inclusive as well.

I miss not having a butler anymore. I got used to him asking us if we wanted any aromatherapy for our room or if we wanted him to prepare a jacuzzi for us for later that night when we got back.

The only thing that sucked is the weed, nothing but ditch weed in Mexico. I bought 3x and each time it got better till I finally found some that wasn't bad when we took a day trip to Isla Mujeres. But then I almost ended up in a Mexican prison on the way home. We were waiting ot board the ferry back and as we are about to board all of the sudden there is a troop of mexican marines with machine guns and a drug dog standing by the entrance. They start taking the dog by everyone's bag and checking them. At this point I"m 10 feet away from the dog and have 3 bags of weed in my bag so I grab my wife and say we gotta get the fuck out of line. So we scrambled out the back of the line past all the marines and left. Came back 5 minutes later and they were gone so we ran and jumped on the ferry back to Cancun. No way I was ditching the only good weed I found all week!

Here is a link to the hotels' website...

I highly recommend it, but be warned, once you go you'll never want to go anywhere else again...it was that nice.

But also if you go try to find a deal on ebay or something...its really expensive and I just paid full fare cause it was all gift money from the wedding and I didn't really feel like looking around for a deal...ended up costing $8500 for 11 days. I bet you can find it for 60% of that if you bought from someone online..lots of people have memberships and have extra weeks they don't use so they sell them online.

I know you're new at this but now you have a wife...keep the pimp hand strong, my friend.

Congratulations on the wedding.

How was the militia scene down there? I was a long time Acapulco guy, about 9 years straight, now every picture is a shootout every night....So went to cancun for 3 years, stayed at dreams resort. Always requested the room closest to the beach.

last time in Cancun ate at Lobster House 4 of 5 nights.

Where did you eat for 11 nights?

Hit SHAMPOO at all? Above the HOOTERS?

Didn't really see any militia except for the marines doing a random drug checkpoint at the ferry headed back from Isla Mujeres.

We ate all our meals at the hotel since it was all inclusive. The only meal outside the hotel was lunch in Isla Mujeres at Ballyhoo, this awesome fish taco bar on a pier behind a gas station. Found it on trip adviser as the top rated place for fish tacos there so we went and it did not disappoint.

Didn't go to any clubs or anything like that. At night we would relax by the outside lounge and I would smoke a Cohiba and have a cocktail. We were in bed pretty early every night since we were getting up so early in the mornings for golf or just to hit the beach.

I love the Cohiba Sig#4, smoked them in the Caymans last year. In Cancun there are lots of fakes, some so bad they are grey instead of brown. I only bought from the 1 officially licensed Cubano store in Cancun, I wouldn't trust any other place except the Hotel gift shop where they wanted $50 per cigar. Was able to get a box of 5 for $100 from the store as long as I paid cash. Ended up buying two boxes while I was there and brought home 4 cigars.

Mexico is cool as hell, but I've never been to Cancun. I took buses all through central Mexico...I think 1997? Nobody ever bothered me. People were great. I guess the drug gangs have gotten worse since then though. I'm going to make a return trip one of these days when the kids are a bit older.

I think the cartels are only a problem up north and I would assume in mexico city, didn't see any problems in Cancun. We took the bus everywhere with no hassle. Bus system there is amazing. Costs a dollar and a bus comes by every 30 seconds, there's basically one road in Cancun so its a really easy system to figure out and get the hang of.

I bought some other 'stuff" at some of the nicer shops.
