They had witnesses who saw Hoffman near an ATM with the (likely) dealers. They have the timestamp on the ATM transaction(s) for $1200. So even if they didn't have the dealers on the ATM camera, no doubt they were picked up by a neighboring business's security camera, given the population/business density of Manhattan.

Also, 70 bags found in Hoffman's crib. How likely is it the dealers left no prints on any of those bags of heroin.

Most likely charged with 2nd degree murder to try to get them to plead out to some sort of manslaughter.

So here is Hoffman...a middle aged Father of 3 Children...& he has 70 bags of heroin in his home & used needles just laying around. Instead of picking up his kids at school, he is on the bathroom floor naked & shooting heroin. What a selfish fucking asshole.

Just to be clear, he was at a separate apartment several blocks from his home. He supposedly stays sober for 20+ years and checked himself into rehab last year. I have a hard time calling someone dealing with demons of an unknown variety a "selfish fucking asshole." Same goes when the "selfish asshole" label is directed at someone who commits suicide.

On the list of things to quit, alcohol must be very easy compared to heroin.

I enjoyed Phillip Seymour Hoffman in many movies, but I particularly enjoyed his role in an excellent movie called "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead." Interestingly enough, the character does heroin in the movie.

Yea, I think suicide takes courage, so be it. I don't promote it, I just find it fascinating.

I've never considered it a cowardly act at all. To willingly end your own existence, it's just...damn. Everything about our make up tells us to do whatever it takes to survive yet some people hate living in this world so much they rather take their own life and not exist for eternity.

There are situations where someone is terminally ill or a teenager will make a rash decision and end their life 5 minutes after a text message gone wrong. Most people think about it and plan it though. To finally go thru with it, to me, it takes balls.

I know I'm in the minority here.

yeah that's a lot.... unless the guy has some kind of ungodly habit (and it's entirely possible as he has $$$) you figure that's prolly a good 4-5 days..... or maybe ~3-4 REALLY good ones. this is assuming that it's all for him and not for whatever dopebuddies he had.

and to the people who are (probably rightfully) slagging him off as being selfish in the wake of being a father/ex-/husband/etc, alls i can do is reiterate a quote that my grandfather once told me: "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"

it's probably not like the guy was going all leaving las vegas on us and thinking "you know what, for the next 6 months i'll just kind of do a lot of dope and slink back into solitude and maybe ruin my life via finances/incarceration/death. odds are he convinced himself that he had something he had to get through, or some arbitrary date where the cycle would end (cuz my gut originally wanted to say "the party" sarcastically, but really, when you're that deep into addiction it's anything but a party. there's a reason it's called "chasing the dragon") and that he was going to do the right thing in the end..... however the end came before he could do the right thing, clearly.

but then again, who knows? just because they're a celebrity and we've seen them in movies/tv/etc and read/watched interviews we often feel like we know them, and when something like this happens people have more vitriol than they do for random junkie X cuz it feels like a violation of whatever trust/faith we had in them due to pseudo-"knowing" them via the media and etc etc. it could be that the guy was just a tortured soul (cuz i'm not buying that artist-fuel crap for even a second) who genuinely meant well..... or it could be that he was a devil-may-care "fuck all y'all imma do my thing cuz i've earned this $$$ and dammit let's quote jawbreaker: "if you're not the life of the party you'll be the death of everyone" (there we go again with that "party" crap)

so yeah, i really don't know the guy or his circumstances.... but given what i've seen of him looking rather slovenly as of late, i can conjecture to guess that he prolly was deep down in one of dante's circles of hell and god knows what was compelling him to try and numb everything with bayer's gift to the world..... but i hope that he found some peace in the end there, cuz at least when you go via OD it's typically in some sort of a rush of euphoria, so i hope it all made sense to him for one fleeting moment before his peephole to life was closed, if i may be permitted to go vonnegut-from-deadeye-dick on you.

They probably worked a little faster than normal. But remember the cops usually do in a lot of cases like this. There is an issue now with the heroin being laced with fentanyl which is death. Based on the stamps on his bags not toxicology yet that I know of this was suspected.
