I've never considered it a cowardly act at all. To willingly end your own existence, it's just...damn. Everything about our make up tells us to do whatever it takes to survive yet some people hate living in this world so much they rather take their own life and not exist for eternity.

There are situations where someone is terminally ill or a teenager will make a rash decision and end their life 5 minutes after a text message gone wrong. Most people think about it and plan it though. To finally go thru with it, to me, it takes balls.

I know I'm in the minority here.

I understand what you mean. It takes....conviction. at least

I think its supported by the fact that so many people half ass it and don't go all the way

The decision is anything but courageous, the physical act takes some balks I would think

They probably worked a little faster than normal. But remember the cops usually do in a lot of cases like this. There is an issue now with the heroin being laced with fentanyl which is death. Based on the stamps on his bags not toxicology yet that I know of this was suspected.

Kinda neutral on the is he a selfish fuckwad vs throes of addiction and couldnt help himself but what I will say as a parent I can't imagine something that destructive having that kind of power to override the love I have for my son. Knowing that if I do this it may kill me and therefore never see the family again but STILL saying fuck it and doing it anyway. Man that shit must be one hell of a drug

How much fast food do you eat? I'm just saying there is more than one kind of addiction.

I guess that is why I believe the addiction shit as some others do not. I really do not think it is some weak ass guy being selfish. This guy had world by the balls and was basically shooting craps every day and snakes means you are all gone. Forever.

um...well he's not exactly blazing a trail here with his tragic end. the list of artists/performers who have died of a drug overdose is a long one.

it's a shame, though, because he was a great actor. and he knew it too.

He was a pretty good actor. I liked him for the most part.

But, now he's suddenly one of the great actors of our generation. He was good. Now he seems better.

I read someone call him one of the greatest actors of all time. Let's pump the breaks.

Truman Capote's Truman Capote in Murder by Death was better.
Edit: Guess Capote played Lionel Twain in the movie. He so absorbed the role I thought he was playing himself. My badness.

Yeah before it was Ledger. Happens all the time.

he was excellent in "doubt", but i'll always say his role as scotty in "boogie nights" was my favorite. hilarious.

ledger's was tragic because he was young and just starting to show some growth. his last few roles were exceptional.

He was pretty revered before last week though

Since Capote he's been mentioned with the greats

He was very good. Not the Goat but a perrenial all star and likely first ballot hall of farmer

Lester Bangs was my favorite.

From Capote to that is pretty good range

He was very good in "Doubt". If I saw he was in a movie, my thought would be "that's a good choice".

But he's not DeNiro, Brando, Pacino, etc., and I doubt...he was going to be.

At the same time, he will never have that embarrassing fall off that plagued DeNiro, Pacino and, to a lesser extent Brando.

He had kind of a DDL weirdness where he really nailed certain characters

I'm starting to question the Pacino DeNiro are the standard thing. I think they are great but a little overrated.

They both are crazy talents who had tremendous runs but man its been a while for both of em

I need to see more Brando

I think when you think about actors of the generation (ok maybe a little before them) you need to think Newman before Pacino and Deniro.

Al pacino plays one guy. Three or four accents, one guy. Like Mark Wahlberg with two more accents.

I get those guys have had some clunkers in later years but their primes were...well....prime.

I skew my rating toward their best. PSH's best wasn't that level.

Oh yeah I'm not even comparing PSH

I remember Dustin Hoffman used to be the third guy in this group

Hoffman goes way above PSH also.

The guy night have been one of the greats but he killed himself so I'm not just going to assume. His fault.

Exactly. What's his "signature" role? Capote? Nobody watched that.

He's the Cris Carter of actors.

It's now on Chris Carter to get back in the coke game until his untimely death it seems.
